Description: Only main course to a 6 course tasting menu. With passion and spirit Restaurant Fyra was founded in 2009. A restaurant where hospitality is the keyword. Fyra stands for the 4 pillars of enjoying a night out: Food, Drinks, Relaxation and Each other. Since our start, our complete team have chosen an unique approach of hospitality in which the experience of our guests is our drive. With all the seasons providing us a great variety in products, we are proud to present our frequently changing menu. Based on our own love for a Burgundian life we make and serve our dishes with pleasure.

We had the tasting menu and were very pleased with all the courses, especially the cod. A number of "amuse bouche" added to the experience. Flavours were sometimes delicate, perhaps a little too delicate at times. But overall, very good.
We would guess that they operate an exceptionally efficient system of monitoring where you are up to in the meal because one course quickly followed another, so you may need to slow things down if you do not want to be through your meal in record time. We would imagine that booking is essential. It was busy on a mid-October Thursday, and because the ceiling is not high the noise level rises as the restaurant fills up. The lighting level is romantically low.
We would certainly go back.

We reserved this restaurant at an saturdayeve; necesary since it was totaly full booked that eve.
The food was good ( not exceptionally, but more than average. I had the 5 course set menu, but found the starter and dessert really disapointing and very small quantity. The cheese platter was nothing really special, and i found it very expensive ( you pay 13 euro more).
My partner ate a la carte, which was really much better, but also rather expensive. When you chose another wine than the housewine ( good: 25 euro), you pay much too much for a not special wine ( starting at 37 euro), and you must serve yourself to refill your glass. The staff is a bit clumsy but very friendly, and of course you eat in a touristic area. So.., not cheap but also not bad, but speaking of a michelinstar ... No, then they have to bring all the courses on a high level. And that was surely not the fact.

We had dinner here our first night in Amsterdam - wonderful atmosphere. Not fancy or overdone - just people who know how to serve great food and take care of their clients. There is a choice of tasting menus or a la carte - we did a combination and it worked out well. We highly recommend.

Just down the street from where we were staying at the Mercure Arthur Frommer, the Fyra was a wonderful find. Absolutely excellent meal (cod, for me), wonderfully prepared and presented, with unexpected tiny appetizer and dessert. Service was cheerful and very competent. The atmosphere was casual/comfortable and welcoming. Loved it!

I strongly recommend this small resto when you next go through Amsterdam. We had the tastign menu (said to be 4 courses but turned out to me more like 7 with the amuse bouche/dessert). That night it was EUR39. All courses were well research, precisely executed, full of surprises and with appealling presentations. Food rivals some single stared restos I have been to. Wine list is a bit narrow and could benefit from more matured wines.
