Sat outside on sunny terrace for aperitifs and very clever amuse-bouches.Perfect service and cooking.Large establishment so don't know if standards would be so consistently high when busy at night.Excellent value lunch.

My family enjoy travelling and visit highly rated restaurants and we often use guide michelin and trip advisor to make our selection. Ron Blaauw with 2 stars in guide michelin our expectations were quite high. The whole meal was a huge dissapointment. It started with having to wait 20 minutes for our aperetif (when it arrived the quality was poor and different even for the same drinkl). On Saturdays there si a set menu, but we were told that if there were dishes (ingredients) we did not want they would serve substitutes. That did not happen, so amongst the five of us, one of us was sitting without anything to eat. When the dishes were served without exception they forgot a fork or a knife, we started to joke about it, but when it happened for every dish that was served we did not think it was funny any longer. The food was nothing to be proud of , and based on many experiences with Michelin restaurants, in my opinion it does not even deserve a one star in the Michelin system. Our table was close to the kitchen (open one) and towards the end of the meal a lot of noise occured at our table as they were starting to clean the kitchen, (still a lot of guests in the restaurant). When we were presented with the bill, my remark was "total waste of time and money and the the most important thing, the restaurant destroyd a very important family celebration, I hope you the restaurant soon will loose the two stars"

Context was a small, but important celebration. Had read good reviews and knowing Dutch culinary traditions for excellent food is a relatively novel phenomena, Ron Blauuw was an obvious choice. And what a disappointment.... I´d rather not experience such a deviation from expectations another time.

The meal started with our ensemble being told that Saturdays there is only one set menu, no a la carte or alternative menus. What subsequently stood out for the remainder of the meal was extremely slow service; after nearly two hours we had the first "real" starter, before that only minuscule " amuse-bouche" dishes were served. Inattentive service continued at "glacial" speed throughout the meal resulting in our party spending more than five hours for sampling six, in a culinary sense, "over-engineered" dishes. Factoring in that the few staff present were running like crazy to hold up some semblance of a service level, the entire restaurant got an inadvertently very busy and noisy atmosphere.

Unfortunately, this experience is not unique; some restaurants start up, initially do a good job and get good ratings, but then, apparently, comes the harvesting period: Menus are streamlined, food is "conceptualized" by a focus on innovation that is not improving palatability and the service level is stretched very thin. In the case of Ron Blaauw, the current ratings cannot be warranted, neither in a service, nor a culinary perspective .

This was kind of a disappointment. We had high expectations based on reviews from the web. But although the food was distinct and ambitious, the restaurant just didn't match the expectations.

It's the service... Never have I been at a toprestaurant with such confused waiters. Everybody was milling around, but accomplishing little. Most of the evening we felt neglected. Waiting time between dishes was really high, and you would find yourself sitting there, without water, no bread and no wine. Sometimes you would get cutlery placed beside you, but this didn't mean that service of a dish was imminent.

We had champagne for starters, that had lost most of it's bubbles. And when we had finished the champagne no one thought of offering us a wine list for the main courses. When we reached the desserts and inquired about a dessert wine, the sommelier just poured us two glasses without asking what we would like.

The food is okay. But not spectacular. There's some genuine and distinct courses on the menu. But then again there's alså a lot of not so good dishes. If you don't like smoky food... don't go here. Everything was smoked.
