When you depart the Centraal train station in Amsterdam this street is the first scene you see, and it positively screams at you. There are a couple of good restaurants, such as Ghandi Indian Restaurant, but for the most part the eateries here cater to a transcient crowd and have no incentive to be very good. The other businesses here are geared mainly toward young tourists traveling on a low budget. Keep walking away from the train station and soon things become calmer.
