“disappointing”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

Sorry about being negative here but compared with the beautiful and fun canals area, this flower market is a huge turn off. The whole street is not very long but very tacky and touristy. You only see very few nice and real flowers there. most stalls only show flower photos!!! what's the point going over there?!

“Meh, but Amaryllis about 20% of the cost you would pay in the states.”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

Perhaps the flower market is better in the tulip window between April and May. We visited in July and were greatly disappointed. The tourist is squeezed into a narrow walk way between flower shops (even in July many flowers were silk) and super kitschy tourist shops. It lasts about a block or two. The one positive thing I can say is that the bulbs (especially amaryllis) were huge, looked healthy with good roots and were about 20% of the cost you would pay in the states. Not sure if you can justify shipping them for that cost, but it's the one reason to go there.

“Not many flowers!”
Reviewed 25 June 2014

I was disappointed. Lots of tourist tat and tulip bulbs, but only one or two stalls actually sold flowers. we visited in June so fresh tulips were finished, but I expected to see a few more roses and summer flowers available. The florists' stalls dotted throughout the city and the flower boxes on all the bridges had more colour and variety than here. perhaps it's better in spring.

“why is this a main attraction?”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

It's a parade of stalls with mainly fake flowers, bulbs, and souvenirs... Unless you run out of things to do in amsterdam (highly unlikely - no pun intended) then visit this place.

“Flowers and cheese, too”
Reviewed 24 June 2014 via mobile

We loved this place. Many stalls of bulb dealers and fresh flower sellers, canal-side. There are several cheese shops along the route that offer samples and shipping. Cheese was just delicious, so much more flavorful than any Edams I have had before. And surprisingly it had a shelf life of six months if sealed in its wax. Good discounts for multi-packs.
