This was interesting especially for me as Jan van Riebeeck founded the cape of good hope in a ship similar to the one at the museum.enlightening experience to tour the ship to understand the hardships the sailors must have endured during their months of travelling.the museum also she'd some light of the imports coming from all over the world to Holland.

“Brilliant technology.”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

Many, many interesting displays on the Dutch seafaring history. Excellently executed with visual displays and small theatre shows. I particularly liked the history of slavery.
Good toilet facilities, lifts to all floors. A spotlessly clean coffee shop. A very comprehensive library also.
Outside there is a real genuine Galleon moored for visitors to experience what the conditions were like on board ship in the olden days.
The museum is open seven days of the week 9am to 5pm.
At a cost of 15 Euro's I thought that it was excellent value for money.

“Amazing !!”
Reviewed 8 November 2013 via mobile

Make sure you give yourself sufficient time here as there is so so much to see. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, the replica ship was amazing and the exhibit about the slave ship was very moving. All of the artwork was fantastic and all of the other exhibits were great! It's also a good place for children as well as there are neat things to do and see.

“Experience life aboard the replica of a Historic VOC ship”

The Scheepvaartmuseum is a great museum for both young and old. There are a lot of interactive activities that make it very interesting and fun to learn more about the naval history of the Netherlands.

“Interesting Look at Maritime History”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

A newly renovated museum with some great exhibits. There is a tall ship docked outside that you can go in and if there is another ship docked there, you can usually tour that one too. Interactive and great for all ages.
