“Great central location!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2012 via mobile

We booked our room using hilton honors points. This hotel is in a great location, right beside central station. We took the train from the airport (8 euros)...took about 20 minutes. There was an ATM in the train station. The rooms were nicely furnished. We had a Apple Mac in our bedroom and the main room, mini fridge, coffee/tea. The bathroom had tub and separate shower. Our breakfast was included (buffet loaded with everything). We rented bikes from the hotel (15euros which included 2 locks). This was more than the bike place down the street but the bikes could be parked at the front door of the hotel and we were able to return them anytime vs only open hours (9am-5:45pm) at the bike places. The SkyLounge at the top of the hotel has awesome views but prices are much higher than elsewhere. Would definitely come back again!

Hotel very central, clean, with many facilities and amenities. the staff were polite and very helpful. Compared to other 4 * hotels ranging ansterntam the same values that I think is worth the money (if we exclude the breakfast was quite expensive). large end of the chip is skylounge rooftop with amazing views and works at night as a bar with nice music and pleasant atmosphere!

We found this hotel excellent - early check in and a late check out wasnt a problem, the imac and wifi is great the breakfast one of the better hotel breakfasts and the chocolate cookie - fantastic. We were not in the room much but were not bothered by any noise and slept soundly, we were able to walk to all attractions, nice to get away from the loud touristy area, good views attentive staff .... the only thing i would add would be to have some of those lovely cookies on the breakfast menu

Great location, walking distance from train station, to connect to airport or main line rail.
Also walking distance to old town.

Room was nice. HH gold provided city view UG and a few things in the minibar included.
I missed the breakfast due to a 7am flt, so out early.

They 17" Mac was nice touch, although not everyone might appreciate. I liked being able to skype my family without turning on my laptop, and it worked well replacing the TV once i figured it out. Power sun shades for the windows.

Otherwise mid line toileteries. Oh, yes they do have the choc chip cookies at check in.

Great location 5 minute walk from Central Station. Buy the tram pass for several days which also allows access to subway and bus routes as well. Excellent transit system to get anywhere you want. Buy pass at hotel desk and off you go. All major attractions easily accessible. Staff very good and responsive to any requests. Clean hotel, safe area. A good self service laundry (Wasserette) easy walk on Haarlemmer Stratt for €8 per load total for wash and dry. Another self serve on Ouderbrugsteeq Straat just several short blocks up Damrak Straat (main street from station).
Good reasonably priced Indian restaurant called Royal Tandoori Indian Restaurant. Located Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 53. Runs parallel to Damrak and is right on the # 2 & 5 tram lines to and from Central Station.
Many attractions all easily reached. Enjoy a good hotel, in a good location and in a great city brimming with history. Have fun. Hope this note helps.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the city otherwise you will overlook the rail lines.

Fantastic location.

A couple minutes walk from train station/trams/riverbuses. Close to most attractions. Location really cannot be beat.

We requested a city facing room when booking, but were told the only way to upgrade was to pay additional 50euro per day during check-in. This upgrade included free breakfast and free minibar use. The breakfast was fantastic. The view also great. If you can budget the extra money it may be worth the upgrade.

Now come the negatives.

We appeared to be upgraded from a room with two queen beds to one with a single queen. Doesn't sound like an upgrade to me, no matter how nice the view is.

The included minibar in the upgrade was a joke. It was half empty to start and not refilled at all. So much for being included free in upgrade fee. I ended up having find the person with the minibar supplies in the hallway and had to specifically request it to be done on the last day.

The linens were not changed once. The hotel specifies to leave a preprinted card on the bed requesting a linen change, otherwise they do not do it. On each day the card was left on the bed. The bed was made up with existing linens and card placed back in its original location in the bathroom. Ridiculous. What is the point of having this process to change linens if it is not followed. Normally this would not be a huge problem, but one of the people was sick (and now sharing same bed due to the 'upgrade') and would cough/sneeze/sweat all over the sheets at night.

The food at the SkyLounge had no flavour. The prices were expensive, but that would not be a big deal if only the food tasted as good as it looked. It did look really good.

The front desk was useless when any/all of these issues were mentioned. The typical 'chain hotel apology' was offered. Not sure if this was just the staff working, or if they are just told to give a simple 'sorry' reply and move on by the management. It sure seemed that way.

The whole experience did not feel as good as it could have. Was disappointed as the hotel has a lot going for it and was just missing the mark on some relatively minor but important issues.

Would probably not stay again when factoring in the cost vs. service received.

Room Tip: city facing room has fantastic view and apparently much quieter
