“Ultra modern and convenient location”
Reviewed 16 July 2012 via mobile

Booked two nights at this Doubletree Hilton and had a very enjoyable stay this past weekend. What this chic hotel may lack in "old Dutch charm" it makes up for in ultra modern convenience. Fluffy bathrobes and slippers, Crabtree and Evelyn bath amenities, complimentary mini bar (stocked fresh daily!), in-room espresso maker and two iMac computers ( worked great for Skype call to our son back in Canada) in our suite made our Amsterdam weekend a super pleasant experience. We enjoyed the variety of the complimentary buffet breakfast that our room rate included, and of course, the warm cookie on check in was divine. The guest services staff were helpful in making restaurant reservations for us and arranging taxis, all staff were very friendly and helpful. I recommend visiting the sky lounge for a cocktail and taking in the sunset view of the city. The hotel is only about 200 meters east of the Centraal station- very easy walk even with luggage. We walked to Dam square, red light district and Anne frank house from the hotel with no problems. I'd highly recommend this Hilton hotel to anyone. The only negative - I found the bed a bit hard. We had a canal view room and it was very quiet, no noise from the nearby trains at all.

Very nice welcome. We were upgraded and told all the advantages. The suite we got was large, clean and comfortable. The location is perfect: just turn left out of Centraal Station. Breakfast is good, if you avoid the peak times - but that's not the hotel's fault. The only tiny issue was that, although we were offered a late check out when we checked in, they didn't issue keys that worked after noon. However, that is a very minor point. It is nice to find a smart, clean hotel in Amsterdam with an excellent service.

Awesome addition to the Hilton chain. Super-cool rooms and a very friendly staff located SO close to the station. Easy in/easy out. I hear they're opening a Starbucks soon, as well.

I stayed here for a business trip attending a convention at the RAI.
The Hotel is in the top of the city, about a 5 minute walk from Centraal Station.
Unfortunately, I was placed in a room next to the railway line so didn't sleep much all week. The room was on the 6th floor and was immediately above about 20 railway tracks.
The room itself was very modern and clean. The bathroom was very stylish with a shower cubicle. There was plenty of hot water and the pressure was good.
The free Wireless Internet worked reasonably well but I thought the iMac as a TV / workstation was a bit of a fad - I'd prefer a generic TV.
Breakfast was good, eggs cooked to order if you liked. The hot buffet consisted of pork and veal sausages, smoked bacon, back bacon, scrambled eggs, creamed mushrooms and grilled tomatoes. The usual other cereals, breads, pastries, juices were available. Breakfast was very busy but the staff coped OK.
I used the Sky Lounge one evening, it offers a fantastic view of the city with reasonably priced (for a Hilton!) drinks.
Overall, if it wasn't for the railway tracks, I'd give this hotel a 5.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to ask for a room away from the railway!!!

This hotel is excellent, both service and food exceptional. The location great for those going on, or coming off a Sea cruise or River cruise. The Terminal for both River and Sea cruise short five minute walk, even with roller suitcases.
We had room on the 5th floor overlooking the city. Fanatstic floor to ceiling windows, unbelievable views. This hotel is just a short walk to many of the fantastic locations that Amsterdam has to offer. Apart from the hotel's own dining facilities (which are great), there is a floating 3 storey Chinese Restaurant just a couple of hundred meters away (great food reasoble prices0 If not try the Public Library which has three different eateries of which two have alcohol available. Also five minute walk to NEMO Museum -- great for adults as well as jkids.

Room Tip: Pick room facing the city. Higher the floor the better.

We spent 4 days in Amsterdam in May at the Hilton's new acquisition called the Doubletree. It is located within walking distance of both the Central Station and the cruise terminal. On arriving at Schipol Airport, the train terminal was right there, and it took us several stops to arrive at Central Station. We were pleased with the cleanliness and staff efficiency of the hotel. On the sixth floor, the view of Amsterdam was stunning. You can rent bicycles at the front desk and sightsee all day, or just walk. We walked everywhere from the hotel, including the museums, the "coffee" shops, and the ticket booths that sell canal/city tours. Very convenient!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the front above the fourth floor have stunning views of the city and canal.

I stayed here in July and was very happy with this hotel. The location was perfect, especially if you're traveling via train (right next to the Centraal train station, and a quick walk into old town Amsterdam, plus the boats for the canal cruises docked only a few blocks from the hotel). This has to be nicest doubletree I've ever stayed at (maybe due to the fact that it was formerly the mint hotel and was recently converted to a doubletree), the rooms very modern, with mac computers doubling as tvs in the room. The great staff helped us with all our requests, and we were able to buy our tickets for the van gogh museum directly from the concierge, which saved us a ton of time by avoiding the huge lines to buy tickets at the museum.
