“Fantastic Stay in Amsterdam”
Reviewed 18 September 2012

Cannot fault this hotel. When we arrived we received a free room upgrade from a small to a large room and free breakfast also. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The location is great, about 10 mins from the Ann Frank Museum and in a not so touristy area but still very close to everything. The service was fantastic, from the girls at reception to the lady serving breakfast. Received a city map on arrival with a list of good restuarants to try in the area. Free Wifi in the rooms. Would definately recommend this hotel and stay there myself again.

I stayed here for 4 nights with my daughter. She is 24 and needed a break before returning to university. I needed a break from my life in the country. We loved the Gothic chic decor! The room was clean and comfortable and we slept well there. The area is quiet and yet close to all the things you may want to see in Amsterdam. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would be very happy to stay there again.

Great location & value. Not so touristy. Very attentive staff. I would recommend this place. Quite exotic; eclectic interior - touch of Bohemia. Good internet access. Comfortable bed; quiet rooms at back. Right on the canal.

This place is just a little off the sensory overload that Amsterdam can be and not the easiest to find, but it is a nice. First and foremost, the girls at the reception were absolutely great, easing our registration, indicating landmarks on a map and even getting us a bucket of ice from the bar ( a true feat in Europe). The room was not big, but well appointed with a Nespresso machine that did not work too well but whose presence was welcome. We also had a view to the canal that was the icing on the cake. The only downside was the construction that was going on in the basement the day on which we stayed. The drill was honing into the stone about the time we wanted to take a nap, making it a rather superficial drawback. All in all, we liked this hotel. When in town we used to stay at the NH City Center but it has gotten too outrageaous price-wise. Sebastian's is a great alternative.

There are so many hotels to choose from in Amsterdam-we made the right choice we were really very happy with Sebastians, and will definately be visiting again. From the train station this hotel is 10 min walk- The hotel is situated on a quiet canal within easy walk of restaurants, shops, trams that take you everywhere, Ann Frank house(10mins walk) the location couldnt have been any better. Being next to the canal you get the best overall experience of the relaxing Amsterdam. Staff at hotel always went beyond their job to help and advise very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, not huge but big enough to be functional-the Strawberrys/chocolates were a wonderful addition to the room which also had Tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast if buffet stype 10 euros each person, unless you get an offer via trip advisor - great choice with hot and cold food, cerials, cakes, fruit, bread rolls tea/coffee.
Recommend:
>I-Amsterdam card for ease of travel and entry to alot of museums free.
>Train from airport to Amsterdam - takes 20 mins.
>Book your tickets/time slot to Ann Franks Museum before you to go Amsterdam-saves queing
>Amsterdam museum - excellent and interactive
>Canal boat trip/with comentary
Thank you Sebastians for a very enjoyable stay in your hotel... See you again.

Room Tip: Canal side room -is best

This is a good hotel, which was undergoing some refurbishment during our stay in March 2012, along with major renovations on the building next door. The latter works disturbed our stay as we had an adjoining wall and were woken up at 7am by banging and dutch builders singing! The Hotel were very apologetic and although they could not control the noises, or move us to an alternative room (it was fully booked), they did give us a discount on our final bill.

Breakfasts were lovely and plentiful. The lounge was modern and enabled people to mingle and chat if they wanted to, or keep themselves to themselves. It is in a good neighbourhood, which although near to the centre and station, was quiet too.

Stayed for 3 nights August got a very good rate on the internet for a small single room they did contact me and gave details of the room confirming it was small. I have been in smaller but it did have all the essentials I was surprised going into en-suite it was large for the size of room, most hotels say complementary soap etc here they mean it more than ample and replaced daily. Good breakfast and very friendly staff 10 mins walk to central station. It is a distance from local trams & buses but only 10 mins walk again to Dam square so not that much of a problem. There is noise from other rooms but I found this did not disturb a good nights rest if you can flush the toilet in the morning and not in the middle of the night.I booked direct with the Hotel got the best deal.

Room Tip: Book direct mention TripAdvisor in the comments and they say you get a free drink on bookings up to...
