The location is perfect. you are set right in the middle of the city so getting around is easy. The room i stayed in had a view of the canal but necessarily did not come as a joyous experience because of all the noises but still at least they had a view. Price is affordable and the rooms are nice. service is good as well. so pretty much everything i required out of stay was included in here so i was pretty happy with the stay at the place.

Pros: Excellent Location, staff is very friendly and speak good english, room was clean and decent size for 2 people, decent wifi.

Cons: Shared bathroom, can get noisy (but hey its Amsterdam), room was a little dusty but for the most part pretty clean.

This place was the first stop on our 8 week Euro-Trip. We stayed here for 3 nights. It is in the center of the red light district so it can get noisy at night, but there are tons of bars and shops a few steps away. The staff was great and very helpful. They also had some good suggestions for places to eat/bars to go, etc. Our room wasn't the biggest I've stayed in but it wasn't tiny and cramped either. All-in-all, not the fanciest hotel but it worked for a place to keep your stuff and sleep. Would stay here again.

Very cute and charming hotel, in the middle of Amsterdam (you can easily walk to the central station). The staff was really nice and helpful. We (3 girls) stayed there 4 nights, affordable prices and although the shower was shared, it was very clean. Breakfast was nice too :)

if you just want a place to rest to explore the centre of Amsterdam, then this is ok. The service is ok, the rooms are ok, the price is ok. I looked around for other acco in the same area, and it all seems to be of that standard. The owner looked tired of his own establishment, and for the other staff, it was just a job, so don't expect too much of a welcoming or sharing of info. My room overlooked the canal and Oude Kerk, so it was drunken noise till early mornings if you wanted to keep your window open for some ventilation. The wi fi did not work. I will not stay there again, since there are other parts of Amsterdam that I discovered that are better value and utterly charming. If you want to be in the central area, this is one of many such establishments you can choose from

The Anco hotel is right in the middle of everything, in the heart of the red light district. The staff is very helpful and friendly, they will give you the 411 on all that you can do and where to go.
The hotel itself is secure and clean. My room was a single private room with shared bath, it was small yes but it worked perfectly because I just used it to rest and sleep. By the way, it had the best mattress I've ever slept in! At 75 Euros per night the room came with breakfast included which is served between 9 and 11 am. The only down side is the walls are paper thin so you will hear everything specially at night but it will eventually wind down, having said this I did have a very quiet and restful night.

Room Tip: Book in advance, it is a small hotel and it gets booked quite fast!

Good value in a clean and well maintained budget hotel near Central Station in the Red Light district. Showers and toilets are shared for most of the rooms, but rooms have individual sinks. Front rooms have charming views over the canal to the Oude Kirk; other rooms lack a view, but are quiet. The rooms that are accessible by stairs behind the reception when it is open are only accessible by ascending to the top floor and then descending the back staircase after 10 PM. The front desk staff (Dennis, Dave) are friendly and helpful, as are owners Josef and Karl, and Carlos kept the room clean and stocked with towels. Breakfasts included ham, cheese, and eggs. I needed a taxi for my return flight and Karl was up before the scheduled breakfast time to give me coffee and to be sure the taxi arrived.

The reason I assigned 4 stars instead of 5 was that they were having ongoing WiFi problems both times that I stayed there during a 2-week period, and internet was accessible for only a couple hours in the mid-morning during weekdays. For those who rely on the internet for travel information (sights, venues, schedules, email, flight updates, etc.) you will want to check before booking to be sure that the WiFi is working. Cell phones that also depend on WiFi (instead of exorbitant roaming charges) worked only to place calls when WiFi was inoperative.

Room Tip: Front rooms have charming views over the canal to the Oude Kirk; other rooms lack a view, but are qu...
