Owner description: Rembrandt lived and worked from 1639 to 1658 in this 17th-century house, which today is a museum that pays tribute to the artist's life and career.

Not crowded as other museums in Amsterdam.
The home is furnished with some original paintings by Rembrandt and his entourage.
The rooms with the furnitures allow a good understanding of how people lived.
On the last floor there is a laboratory in which you can draw with the technique used by Rembrandt.
There were audio tours available in any language, really useful.
The ticket is included in the Amsterdam Card.

This is worth a visit if you are a lover of art history or Rembrandt in particular. The house has been restored to replicate the times of Rembrandt from the materials he used, to the objects from which he drew inspiration.

There is an excellent gift shop with reasonable prices, an informative audio guide is included in tour price (a previous review complained that voices were American! They are perfectly modulated English speakers! And very pleasant to listen to.) the house has a lot of steep windy stairs which leads you to his printing room and studios. We were fortunate to have a demonstration of copper engraving techniques demonstrated. There is also a short film explaining the main elements of Rembrandt's life. A very good experience.

Enjoyable visit with lots of painting from the Master himself or his followers, some copies of great paintings displayed in Museums around the world. Audio guide also available here. The staff is super friendly and uyou should be able to arrange for a tour as well.

Tips: Come before 4.00pm to assist to the workshop. Must be great with kids.

We happened on this gem while we were walking by. The home is beautifully furnished with many original paintings by Rembrandt. Every room had plaques with information about it's use and tidbits of Rembrandt's life. There were also audio tours available. The museum is included on the Museumkaart, which we purchased and felt was very worthwhile.

Amsterdam's Rembrandthuis offers profound insight into the life and times of one of Europe's master artists. The pressures of interested viewers are well controlled, quite gently in fact, allowing excellent access to the small rooms in this beautifully preserved house. The displays are authentic and meaningful, and are augmented by wonderful demonstrations of printing and painting, and paint-mixing by knowledgeable informants. We came away with a much deeper understanding and appreciation of the fine paintings and prints by Rembrandt that we saw in Amsterdam and elsewhere. And we learned a great deal about the lifestyle and circumstances in which this great artist worked.
