Description: Bar restaurant Stork: an excellent fish in a special location in Amsterdam. Stork Cafe Restaurant is located in an old industrial warehouse on the site of The Other Side , the former Stork grounds , on the Northern IJ banks . The warehouse is left intact to a large extent so that the industrial character has been preserved . In the old machine hall is a large zinc bar and an open kitchen built. The immense space has a length of 50 meters many windows overlooking the IJ. The restaurant has over 150 seats and the cafe over 100. In the summer months there is a large south facing terrace , directly on the IJ. Stork Restaurant is a seafood restaurant , a gigantic size the largest in Amsterdam .

I was in Amsterdam on business and needed to take some clients for lunch. Not really knowing the place I asked for their recommendations and they recommended this place. I understand that it's not the easiest place to find as it is tucked in the back on an industrial area but an uninspiring outside by the old wharfs opened up into a vision of post industrial space.

We went on a Thursday lunchtime in January and there was a few people there although I am assured that in the summer it is heaving especially outside. As a new visitor to the city, the novelty of working barges passing by outside the window didn't wear off for the couple of hours we were there.

As this is essentially a seafood restaurant, the food is very good and the fish platter was nicely presented. The service was attentive and whilst I didn't see which wine was ordered, it was a perfectly serviceable white.

Whilst this place isn't going to win any Michelin stars, all was good and I would recommend it especially in the summer.

Amsterdam Noord is like Prenslauerberg in Berlin: fullof surprises.Stork is a fine place, special at agreat location.
The three of us had both fish ( a great dorade; would have loved to have two instead of one piece) and meat: both excellently prepared and equeally presented.
Service was very attentive and generous (never got somuch fine wine in my glass).
Will come back; if you're "into fish" here's the place to visit. You'll have a great evening.

This is an out of the centre, seafood restaurant in what looked like a former factory. The principle was good, fresh fish and seafood (on display) cooked to order but it seemed chaotic. We went on a Monday and there was a lot not available. Sometimes we were told but other times, a substitute was provided without asking. Service was very slow although staff were pleasant. The seafood was OK but not at all special. Disappointing.

Loved it there. The atmosphere and setting of the place were remarkable.
The entree plate is not to be missed and the lobsters were great

This is a huge place (a former factory building?) with a lovely view of the IJ. It is on the North bank of this waterway which runs behind the Central Station in Amsterdam and connects the Noordzee Channel with the Ijsselmeer. It is an up and coming area.
Appropriately the Stork menu emphasizes fish dishes. Our party of three had the Special oysters appetizer which was delicious. As main course one of my companions had the fish soup and I and the other diner had the Zeebaars (sea bass) which was prepared perfectly. With wine (four glasses) and one water "for Kenya", the bill came to 79 Euros.
