“Gorgeous room, amazing hosts!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2012

Me and my partner went for two days- soon as we arrived, was greeted and felt really welcome by our host Petra. The room we stayed in was stunning, had everything we needed and a little kitchen we could use and help ourselves to drinks and food for free, also a espresso machine which was a lovely touch! not to mention that fabulous breakfast in the morning.
Petra give us a little review booklet on local coffee shops we should visit etc, again going the extra mile.
The best thing was not only the amazing room we had, but the fact that we felt really comfortable to the point that we could just leave our door open while Petra and her dog just wandered round.

Couldn't fault it!

Based on the exquisite reviews Prince Henry had as well as winning the Travellers' Choice B&B Award, we booked a night in the Executive Garden Suite. Located at the back of the house, a quiet patio is part of it. The room itself is big and the new-looking bathroom even bigger! It boasts an atmosphere of a warm, Mediterranean (Spanish) surrounding, primarily sandy stones combined with colourful mosaics. It has a big bath, a small but powerful rain shower with extra handheld shower, a toilet, a washbasin and - surprisingly situated in a bathroom - an open wardrobe for clothes. Unfortunately there is no floor heating: the tiles feel a bit cold on your feet.

The room itself has quite a sober, slightly out-dated interior and, unlike the bathroom, in our opinion existed of not exactly matching styles. Here and there some silk flowers have been put in a vase, which looks a bit old fashioned. The owners took good care of several paintings on the wall, all of various styles and moods. The small antique table with two chairs however is lovely and is perfect for enjoying your sumptuous breakfast! The box spring bed had a good quality, but was a bit too short for us: it measured 1.60x2.00m. To our small disappointment the iPod docking station did not work, so we had to arrange our own music. Upon arrival the large garden doors were covered with richly lined coral curtains.

Like we already mentioned: breakfast was extensive and very, very well taken care of. We were presented with freshly baked croissants and small breads, boiled eggs, homemade jams, fresh orange juice, cheese, yoghurt and fresh fruits. A lovely warm way to leave our temporary home!

Next to the suite a small kitchen is adjacent in which you are welcome to get some free soft drinks or beers. Despite the tranquillity of the garden and the stillness of the location, during the night we heard some disturbing noises coming from the kitchen, which was probably either the refrigerator or dishwasher.

Summarising: being experienced travellers we would rate the breakfast, the high level of quality of the bathroom and the intimate atmosphere of such a small B&B like Prince Henry as very good. The interior design of the room however, brings down the average quality and feeling of luxury. A redesign of the suite would be in place. Perhaps the owners already did this with their two-bedroom suite, which looks absolutely lovely and of a much higher standard in the brochure.

Overall, we experienced our stay in the Executive Garden Suite as charming and therefore we would like to value it with 3.5 points.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so we respect -of course- the opinion of the reviewer.
We are glad she enjoyed the personal service anyhow.
We would rather that you check out the pictures on our website with regard to the executive suite mentioned in this review, and see whether this room would suit YOUR tastes. As a matter of fact though, there IS floor heating, but the guest decides him/herself whether to use it or not.
And no, we do not plan the remodeling of a suite we are perfectly happy with and which was created in April 2011.

For our eighth visit to Amsterdam we finally found a perfect place. A delicious breakfast dragged us out the very comfortable bed. The bathroom has the air of a Roman bath house.
Our day was already perfect.
To get to the city centre, you can choose to walk in the Vondelpark or take the tram nearby.
There are also excellent restaurants in the neighbourhood.
The host Joop and Petra showed the house and invited us for an appetizer in their apartment.
They are very friendly and helpful.
We parked our car in the park and ride "Olympisch Stadion". It's in walking distance.
The only bad thing to say is that we had to leave after 2 nights to go back home.
It's an excellent b&b.
Thank you.

It was truly a delightful experience, staying at Prince Henry. We have stayed in many good B&B's, but this is one of our top recommendations. A quiet, good and strategic location, near the famous Vondelpark. The Executive Garden Suite was very elegant in a comfortable, classic style. Anything you would desire, was offered by its generous owners! Highly recommanded!

Me and my wife stayed here in Dec 2011 for 2 nights. We wanted something that would give us a feel of Amsterdam, yet clean and comfortable. Every detail of Prince Henry was well thought of. Breakfast was generous. The place has a touch of class with culture.

The host Joop, Petra and their dog were very friendly and helpful.

We loved Prince Henry very much and would stay here if we were to returned to Amsterdam.

The trade off for this lovely place is the distance from the city Central. Its a good 15 minutes walk to museums. Nonetheless, there is a #2 tram nearby and Taxi is not too expensive from the Airport.

Overall, a wonderful and lovely stay.

We (parents and two teenagers) stayed at Prince Henry two days in december. Prince Henry Suites and Gardens is located in the most prestigious area of Amsterdam next to the Vondelpark with all kinds of trendy shops and excellent restaurants at close distance. The important musea are also within walking distance as is the old city centre. It is also very easy to take a street car. In front of the beautifull building of Prince Henry it is easy to find a safe parking space for your car. Reception was very friendly and we rented both suites on the ground floor. The suites are nicely furnished with excellent beds and everything you need, privacy and quiet. The bathrooms are gorgeous and in spring, summer and fall it must be great to enjoy the gardens of the two suites.
Breakfast was delicious and atractively presented. You have the feeling of having your own apartment in Amsterdam. We will certainly be back!
