this hotel is about 200 meter from VanGogh Museum entrance and very close to the other museum in Amsterdam. Not very cheap, but in-line with the other hotels in the area. I paid 150euro 1 night/ double. Executive rooms are ok, well equipped. Standard room may be a bit smaller. Breakfast is very expensive in my opinion, 20euros each : same for the other hotels in the area. Find a bar or a bakery or a pub and get yr breakfast for little money. Access to the city is very easy with 3 trams stopping 200 meters from the hotel. And walking to te center is pretty easy as well. Staff is very kind and offer good tips. Wifi in the public area. Bycycle on rent. If you want to spend few relaxing days in Ams, it's a good choice.

I loved this hotel - it is in a brilliant location and is the perfect base to return to after spending the day exploring Amsterdam. All the staff were fantastic, very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and restaurants etc.
For our first night we were in a basement room, as mentioned by many other travelers, these rooms are very dark and a little bit depressing (they are much bigger though and the bathrooms are also bigger w/ separate shower and bath). We were kindly moved for our remaining 2 nights and having a big window and natural light higher up in the hotel makes a big difference.
Breakfast was good and the honesty bar in the lobby is a great addition.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and couldn't fault it (apart from the bed being a tad soft for my back!). Great to use as a base for exploring the whole of the city. Friendly staff. I've stayed at a number of hotels in Amsterdam and this rates well.

Very nice stay at the JL in Amsterdam. The Hotel is small and friendly, the decor is modern and clean. The room is big, the bed is extremely comfortable and there is a tv in the bathtub ;)
This is a very good hotel both for business trips and for holidays!

A relatively small hotel on a quiet road slightly outside the centre of Amsterdam but very close to the Museumplein. It is a converted house and the bedrooms have been thoughtfully designed with all the things that you would expect as standard nowadays - flat screen telly, ipod dock, nespresso machine, good shower, etc. with comfortable beds. the rooms are not particularly big and the corridor from the lift to the rooms is very narrow, so if the staff are cleaning the rooms, their equipment pretty much blocks access to the lift, which can be annoying. The breakfast was very good, although you have to make your own hot drinks from a machine and the water was not hot enough which was annoying. There weren't many staff but they were mainly incredibly helpful and friendly.

we spent 3 nights here over easter weekend.we had room 100 really quiet at the rear of the hotel.the staff were all very welcoming and helpful especially andre,he is a credit to the hotel!
"honesty bar" on the ground floor is a great idea for a quick drink before dinner!.
the only noise really was from the cleaners in the morning from about 8 am,so you wont get a lie in!
all in all a terrific spot, modern design, very clean, friendly staff and great location.
we will return.

We stayed on the third floor. My parents had a street facing room and I was staying at the back side of the hotel. The rooms are decorated in gray tones and quite modern. My room was pretty quite and the only noise I heard durign our stay was other guests' door closing and talking in the hallway. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but had soups which were rather nice, served with warm bread and some lovely butter. Staff were kind and helpful. The only problem about the location was partly due to our luck as we stayed there when both of the main nearby museums were closed - Rijks and Van Gogh.

Room Tip: I loved my room on the third floor facing back side as it was really quiet.
