I am not sure which was more delightful - our charming corner room or the wonderful hostess Mirjam. The location was superb - great proximity to trams and metro, making going to and fro effortless, but serene at the same time. You hear nothing but light rippling and ducks. The room was clean and well-furnished, complete with a decent coffee machine. We had access to everything we needed, and the stay was beyond comfortable. I also highly recommend the breakfast hamper.

What else can you say that the others haven't. Within the first 10 mins we had a random boater come up to borrow a corkscrew and share a glass. My kind of place. Rooms are small but what do you really need when you have an awesome view and clean and comfortable bedding and facilities. We stayed in both rooms.. Pretty similiar but try and get the end unit as it has more windows. They have bikes and an electric boat for a small fee... I would recommend the boat as its easy plus you will have every large tour boat taking your pic as it looks local. It's sounds cliche but Mirjam makes the place...it's getting harder to find genuine hosts but she is the real deal. Other note: excellent breakfast each morning delivered, bars, restaurant etc all close by. We liked cafe kale close by.

The accomodation may be small but it has nearly everthing one or two people would need for a delightfully different holiday on the River Amstel.. Mirjam only opened for business fairly recently but is proving to be an excellent hostess. She provides an excellent breakfast hamper and was willing to take on board my suggestions that she provide some crockery in case guests want to bring home a snack or have a glass of wine. I was worried beforehand that its position under a busy bridge would be noisy but it proved to be quite all right. Could other owners please note that Mirjam has a Wifi system that work and best of all she provides guests with decent reading lights.

Had an awesome stay at Little Amstel. Great location. Room was small, but had everything we needed. Bed was very comfortable. Very clean. Breakfast each morning was simply awesome. Great start to the day. Would recommend in a heartbeat. We stayed at 5* hotel the last two nights and wished we were back at Little Amstel. Mirjam is great. Stay here, you will love it. We rented bikes and rode everywhere.

Room Tip: The room on corner is a bit nicer with a view, but both rooms are great. We were in the smaller roo...

This was our first time staying at a houseboat and we really loved the experience! The surroundings is really peaceful and nice. The view from the room (we stayed at room 1 which is the middle room) was lovely with sights of people jogging at the bridge above, rowing boats, ducks, swans and birds! The room though small, was very cozy. The houseboat is located near the metro Wesperplein and also near to the tram lines. Mirjam was very friendly to us.

However do take note that breakfast is not included in the room price and you have to make reservations to Mirjam. We did not know about this as it was not written in their website. I felt she should make this known to us as we waited for our breakfast to be delivered to us only to find out this fact. The bathroom was very small but it was still ok. My only minor complaint was that the basin is really too tiny with the over-sized tap, making it slighltly difficult to wash our face or brush our teeth.

I can't say enough positive things about Little Amstel. My friend and I even arrived pretty late (around 10:30 at night) and Mirjam was there with a friendly greeting to help us get into our room and direct us to an area of the neighborhood where we could find a drink.

The place: very nice and efficient rooms. Bed can be one double or two twins depending on how you arrange them, typical of European hotel rooms. Nice little table and chairs, clean modern bathroom with shower (loved the mirror squeegee), quiet location, cable TV if you need it, and even a little fridge. The water view is perfect (we even saw a Crew race on our last morning while eating breakfast) and lets you see some beautiful Amsterdam canal architecture.

The service was great. Mirjam couldn't have been nicer. Each morning she drops off an amazing breakfast for two that would have cost quite a bit for us to buy ourselves. I'm not kidding here: 3 types of bread each day (different each day), some sliced cheese and meat (seems typical for northern europe in my experience), two hard boiled eggs, yogurt and granola to add, variety of jam, peanut butter, and honey, milk, coffee packets for the machine in the room, AND orange juice. I mean, where are you going to get that included at this price? REmember to save some bread for the ducks and coots that stop by the window in the canal.

The neighborhood was great too. It took us 15-20 minutes to walk to the city center to enjoy all the inner canals and picturesque houses. A tram, which picks up just one street over, will get you to the city center in about 7 minutes tops. The neighborhood is De Pijp. A really cool area with the most international food options in the city, and get this...it's actually a DUTCH neighborhood. Real people live here. Imagine that? There's no stag parties, birthday parties, or random groups making fools of themselves. Just actual people living life. Loved every bit of it.

Get out of your comfort zone and check out the real Amsterdam. Forget the over priced hotels and try something truly unique - an awesome house boat.

Can't recommend Mirjam's place enough. You won't regret it. Do it.

Room Tip: Either room is great. Perfect for 2 people or just 1 traveler.
