One of the finds of the year!! A cracking apartment about 15mins away from Central Station. Tram number 4 is the one to get you there, however I didn't check my emails before leaving so missed that tip. Not to worry though a walk through the neighbourhood wet our appetite for our stay.

We have a habit of turning up early to where we are staying so our room wasn't ready. However Tanja took our bags for us and pointed us in the direction of one of her favourite bar/restaurants (It was after mid-day at this point) for us to get a late breakfast/early lunch. The recommendation was superb and after a leisurely lunch we strolled back to find our bags had been taken up to our room for us. Thank god is all I can say as the stairs up to our room were the thinnest but steepest I have ever seen. Staying here is not for anyone who struggles with stairs or planning on having shall we say too much to drink whilst in Amsterdam. The stairs weren't a problem for us, but certainly provided a little workout each day (and made sure we were very organised so we didn't have to go back up to the room too often)

The room itself was very spacious. We had a double bed, sofa/chairs living room area, wooden dining table and kitchenette, private bathroom with washing machine and a large wardrobe. A lot of space for just 2 people but I think that helped make it so special. The room was bright, clean and well kept with a very home made little booklet on the facilities and area. Tanja helped with breakfast suggestions and anything we needed direction wise.

Apart from when we had our suitcase with us we walked into and back from town. It wasn't far and we got to see plenty of things along the way taking in the sights of Amsterdam.

We will be going back to stay here again!!

Room Tip: Try and book direct if you aren't great with stairs otherwise you could be allocated a room at t...

My husband and I were in Amsterdam for a Business trip at the RAI during the mid of November, and we had a great stay In Tanja's B&B (The White Room) for 5 nights because it was in between Amsterdam Centraal & the RAI.

The B&B was clean and simply but nicely decorated. The bed was warm and comfortable and it was truly a homely place to be after a tiring day at work. My husband and I loved the dining area as well, as we would sit around with our food from the Albertcyup Market nearby, or sometimes have tea with the biscuits that Tanja supplied. Unfortunately there is no breakfast served at this B&B but however, we took the chance to explore various cafes nearby by researching through Tripadvisor, and actually managed to grab some good breakfast nearby!

Colours in de pijp is located on a pretty quiet street, which we liked because we wouldn't be awaken by the sound of zooming cars in the morning or late at night. Even though it was not located in town, it was pretty convenient to get there by taking a 15 minute tram ride.

The stairs to the room was truly a horrifying experience at first, because it was probably the first time we had encountered such steep stairs with a heavy luggage. But Tanja was there to give us a helping hand! And after a few times of climbing up and down the stairs, the steep stairs didn't bother us that much anymore. The toilet was also a little bit small, but it's okay we don't spend too much time in the shower anyway!

Overall, it was a great stay and I would definitely recommend it!

me and my friends just came back from staying at the appartments for a couple of days, the appartment its self was of a high standard and spacious for our needs, the customer service on the other hand was totally shocking,we didnt receive an update email from the company to say that we needed to go to the office to check in first which was a 20 minute tram ride from the appartment itself,we also couldnt find the office and after 2 hours and several none helpfull calls to the reception we finally found the office with the help of the local police. once we got inside we was then asked for money for cleaning the aprtment after our stay which wasnt mention on either email from them or booking.com along with a deposit which we also wasnt made aware of.once we left we was told the deposit would be back in the account withing 3-5 days, 2 weeks later and the money still wasnt in the account, it was only because of my friends constant pestering to booking.com and the apartments office that he finally got the money back.

i would recommend the apartments if they was run by a different more professional team, but as it stands we will not be going back to them and would recommend local hotels in the square if anyone is looking to book these apartments.

BookedColours based on the reviews and in some ways were very happy, in other ways disappointed. Neighbourhood close to transport but also good for walking. Tanja's restaurant selection for Thai. We had the white room - stairs were incredibly difficult- not advised we had 3 flights - see photos!!!! ( note we would not stay again because of these stairs- dangerous with 23 kg suitcase). Tanja advised she always let's people know re the stairs however our email said nothing re stairs so we presumed we were low level. Rooms were large and very light. Lovely to have space!!! TV however was only approx 12 or 14 inch only. Reason why no bigger was not satisfactory. "
We started out three years ago with a flat screen in every room and a DVD player
However after noticing twice  that  they were gone   when guests had left,
we have replaced  the ones stolen  for the time being with a not so appealing model   to take .
The Green room still has its flat screen"
There was no washing machine or dryer and nothing in compendium re fresh towels so these were only changed every two days so were wet the second day of use! Tanja advised she would have changed towels daily had we asked but she had made it clear on arrival it was every two days so we did not like to ask.
We were aware the kitchen was not available for general use however the white room had a full kitchen which was clearly marked not for use other than breakfast or lunch - so you just have to sit and look at the oven and gas cooktop. We would gave been happy to pay more for the use but Tanja said it wasn't about money it was about the mess guests left and the time it takes to clean.
White room does not appear to have access to garden which was disappointing.
Overall the room was comfortable and very roomy, and light. but the danger or climbing stairs to the white room as well as the other issues would stop us
booking again.

Located just a 10 min walk to the canals in Amsterdam and 5 mins to the museum quarter, this is in a great location. The bedroom is huge by American standards. However, the bathrooms are very small, even by European standards and across a small hall. Parking for a car is in a large covered garage about 1 km away, but easy to get to. Tanya is very energetic, helpful and pleasant to talk with. Her decorating skills are about the best we have seen in Europe, she has done a great job with the B&B decorations and the whole experience is very comfortable.

What a lovely way to spend a one night stay whilst visiting a very busy exhibition with a colleague. The rooms were delightful, I had the green room overlooking the lovely street and my friend had the yellow room which has a small balcony overlooking gardens. Tanja was so helpful with maps and restaurant recommendations. There's a nice coffee shop at the end of the street. Wish we could have stayed longer, very different to our usual hotel stays but far more relaxing!

Room Tip: The white room is a self contained apartment whilst the yellow and green rooms share a bathroom.

this is a great B&B to stay in amsterdam. The city is very expensive, so this one has a great price. Tanja, the owner is very nice and helpful person, she helped with maps and she is always worried if everything is alright. The room was one of the most beatiful I have ever stayed. Is very peaceful. The street has no noise. Our room was the green one and had a view to the street, and very large room.We did not had a private bathroom, so if you can, choose the one that has the private. The bathroom could have curtains so the floor wont get all wet, but it is no a big problem. Also, our room had to climb some curly stairs, that for some disalbled people or older one is a problem. I realy recomend this B&B.

Room Tip: choose the one with the private room.
