We ate here on our last night and i must say we were very impressed. The level of service and attention to detail was really great and the waiters made us feel welcome and interacted with us in a casual and friendly way that made us laugh and smile though out the whole meal. The best way to describe it was like eating at an old friends house.
Once greeted we were asked if we wanted to sit in or outside, where we opted for an outside seating on the little square that they share with the neighboring Italian restaurant. We were taken through the specials and drinks options while the waiter offered us some personal recommendations that were not shown on the menu at the time. We opted for cocktails and 3 portions of the home made paella with a mixed Spanish platter to start!
The drinks arrived quickly and were made to perfection, the alcohol leaned towards the heavy side but were none the less enjoyable. the platter was larger than we thought and we were glad it was between 3 of us other wise i think it would have sufficed as a single meal on its own. It was overflowing with fresh cured meats, Spanish sausage, olives, warm bread, humus, dips, hams and cheese all there to tantalize and make your mouth water at the sight of it. The good news is that t tasted as good as it looked! This mixed with the calm surroundings, cocktails and Spanish music playing in the background made you feel as if you could be in a secluded tapas bar in the heart of Seville!
Our main meals arrived in good time , although the starter plates were cleared away a little to quickly as we would liked to have kept them as extra space to put the shells and prawn skins on from the paella, as the ones provided filled up rather quickly, but this is a minor point. The food itself was very good, a little overcooked maybe but this was not a problem as the flavors all came in to play still and the textures were all correct! The portion size was perfect being not to large and not to small either, and managing to fill you up with out over bloating you, in fact considering the quantities we ate we were surprised that we did not feel stuffed which i think is a testament to the cooking and the quality of the food served.
We finally opted for desserts in the form of pancakes and although there was some confusion over mine, strawberries being confused for bacon, they were quite simply the best pancakes we had eaten all trip! Although there was a mix up we didn't mind as the problem was identified and the staff were friendly and apologetic about it and knocked it off our bill at the end!
Highlights and plus points:
Good food and a good choice of menu options
comfy seats and large tables
Good size portions
Friendly and welcoming staff
Slightly to quick on service
Very strong drinks
Overall this was a great place to go and eat and we really enjoyed our meal here! It has it all and although it may not be the cheapest place around it certainly is deserved due to the attention and fantastic service the staff provide!
