“A huge improvement”
Reviewed 23 January 2013

I stayed at The Torren some years ago and gave it a so-so review. Things have definitely improved since then. We had a room on the ground floor at the back of the hotel which was very quiet (although I suspect it would be a lot less quiet in the summer when people are using the garden). The room was a deluxe but still fairly small but it was clean and nicely decorated and we spent very little time in there. The shower was good and there were nice toiletries. We particularly enjoyed the buffet breakfast. The biggest selling point of the hotel for me is the location: Jordaan is the only area of the city I ever like to stay in as it's both central and beautiful. I would stay again but I wish it wasn't quite so pricey!

We arrived for a weekend in Amsterdam to The Toren. We were greeted by friendly staff and invited for a free cocktail in the bar. Throughout our stay the staff couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was lovely and the room was luxurious and very clean. It is ideally located, just a short walk to Dam Square. Would highly recommend.

We stayed at this hotel in early January 2013. Amsterdam is a beautiful and unique city and the Toren reflects these same qualities. Rooms vary but their website is very helpful in listing the different room categories so be guided by that when choosing what you need. If a canal view room is not within the budget or not available fear not, all you need do is step outside and take in the postcard scenery on your doorstep. Located within the Jordaan district surrounded by a labyrinth of canals and lovely alleyways, galleries, boutiques, restaurants and pubs are also dotted throughout the area. Anne Frank House is literally down the street and other attractions including Dam Square are within walking distance. The hotel itself is plush, clean, tranquil and the girls at the front desk do their utmost to assist inquiring travellers. Breakfast is also varied, fresh and delicious from pastries to hot food and the breakfast room decor is as satiating as the food. Just remember it is a boutique hotel hence the attraction for many travellers but maybe not for business travellers.

I highly recommend The Toren for your next trip to Amsterdam! The staff at the front desk are very helpful and make very good dinner recommendations. We had a canal view room which was very cozy and nicely decorated. This is a small boutique hotel with an excellent location near the Jordaan district with many great restaurants close by. I highly recommend dinner at Max's Restaurant a few blocks from the hotel and the Rijsttafel dinner at Tempo Doeloe. My favorite thing about The Toren was the uber cool lounge where they could make an excellent martini. The lounge was so warm and relaxing. The Toren was by far the best stay during our 3 weeks in Europe. Wonderful!!!!

Stayed at The Toren during my first trip to Amsterdam in late Novermber 2012, after reading reviews here on Tripadvisor. I love plush hotels and I'm not impressed with anything basic, so I was not disappointed by The Toren. It is a wonderful boutique hotel which is beautifully decorated and furnished (nothing generic to be seen!). My room was just pure luxury, from the chocolates in the room upon arrival to the jacuzzi in the room itself. Myself and my boyfriend did not have a problem with the room size, ours was perfectly comfortable and was not a suite. The staff excel at their job and are extremely helpful and friendly, customer-service is first rate. The Toren is in a great central location that allows your to explore Amsterdam easily. Do not miss out on the experience of staying here when visiting Amsterdam.
