“FANTASTIC!”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

we make amsterdam a city break destination at least once a year and this is by far the BEST hotel we have ever stayed in, booking was easy and even numerous phone calls to the hotel to double-check our reservations were not 'fobbed off' but instead handled in a polite helpful manner, you always felt the staff went that extra mile to be patient and helpful at every opportunity. we stayed for 2 nights with friends but 3 seperate rooms, check-in was a dream, not complicated, such an easy straightforward process, a huge thankyou to Eric who was the most helpful and nicest member of the hotel who took care of every worry and question being very polite and patient with the group of us while still swiftly managing our check-in process... an utter credit to the westcord! the location is great, 5 mins to everything, food plaza right across the road, dam square 5 mins away, red light district 5 mins away and centraal station too!! cannot sing this hotel's praises enough, room cleaning services with fresh towels everyday etc. card key entrance after hours to the main entrance felt safe and the luggage storage before and after check-in/check-out with the ticket system was a great added touch. BUT the tempur mattress beds were to die for! if you dont like the awesome idea of sleeping on a giant marshmallow then these are not the beds for you...soooooo soft!! already re-booked for august, i think that says it all!!! :)

Room Tip: we had 4th floor, partially obstructed view, but a view regardless... water pressure was good, we ha...

The employees at the hotel were extremely kind and helpful. Both at the desk and in the dining room. The were always happy to assist with directions and with any needs I had. The dinning room service was always kind and with a smile

Room Tip: The glass door at the shower stall was broken and was taped with masking tape... Also, there was a...

The hotel is located in a very nice place close to the city center. At the same time, it's very quiet inside and nothing interrupts a proper rest. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very cheerful, polite and always ready to assist. The only drawback is that the rooms are really small.

This hotel was the closest to the city center for the most reasonable price. We found that it's location was perfect. We considered staying closer to the museum district but after walking to the WestCord from Amsterdam Centraal Station we are glad we didn't have to drag our suit cases any farther than we did.
Our room was spotless and the staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms are a bit small (as all are in Europe) but compared to others we stayed in on our trip this one was perfectly laid out and every inch of space was used in a very efficiently. All in all we found it to be extremely comfortable.

There is also a reasonably priced Italian restaurant about a block down the street.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room with a view. Ours looked out over a street but some had no view at all.

The location of the hotel is superb, very close to central station and dam square, and right outside the hotel is the tram station which goes to museum quarter directly. It's good value, service is good and room is fairly clean. The only bad thing is the bad is a bit too soft which after a few days my back feels a little pain.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights at the beginning of May with two of my friends. We had a room with one single bed and one double. We should have had three single beds, but the double bed worked just fine. The number one thing with the hotel is location, location, location. 5 minute walk from the central train station and a 5 minute walk from the Red Light District. You have several Argentinian, Italian and Chinese restaurants and Irish pubs within a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Then there's the tram that stops just right outside of the hotel that you can take if you wanna travel further to another part of the town. We had our room facing the street on the fourth floor and we had no problem with the street noise. The rooms are big and clean and the shower and the toilet has glass walls. The front desk is manned 24/7 and there's a fridge in the lobby where you can buy sodas, beer, water and snacks any time of the day. We had a great stay and the only minus I can give is that breakfast wasn't included and it costs 15€ if you don't buy it in advance, then you can get it for 12€. We didn't think it was worth it and ate breakfast just a minutes walk from the hotel for 8-10€. I'm definitely gonna book this hotel next time I'm going back to Amsterdam. Well worth the money we payed per night when you think what the location is and how big and fresh the rooms are. I would rate it as a four star hotel instead of the three it has now.

Dear Frolunda71,

Thanks for this helpful review! Did you know our staff has tried many restaurants in the neighbourhood theirselves and can actually tell you which ones are the best in town? It tends to come in handy when it's difficult to choose between the many possibilities you face at our location!

We are currently developing a "take away" breakfast at a lower price than our original Breakfast Buffet, so next time you visity us you might be able to enjoy this as well..

Looking forward to welcoming you again.
