Close proximity to everywhere in Amsterdam and the service quality exceeds our expectation for a 3 star hotel. The room is clean and comfortable and the shower pressure and temperature can be adjusted easily to your preference.

Just returned from a great weekend away in Amsterdam where we stayed at the WestCord City Centre Hotel. We booked at very short notice so probably did not get the best value but that is more to do with our poor planning rather than the hotel prices. The hotel is situated within a very short distance from the Station and was very easy to find. This was perfect for us as we arrived on the Thalys train and we did not need to pay for a Taxi to get to the place.

On arrival at the hotel we found the staff at the reception to be most helpful and as it was our first time in the city the lady at the reception to time to provide us with a map and highlight some areas of interest that we might be interested in. We carried that map around with us for 3 days. Very useful and a special touch not experienced at many other hotels we have stayed at before, so well done for that!

Check in was simple and we received two keys for the room without having to ask. Again, this was helpful as many other places automatically give you one without offering a second and some frown when you have the audacity to ask for two but not here. Another helpful touch.

Security in the building was good too whereby access to the lifts could only be obtained by keyholders (pretty commonplace now) but emphasises the need for two keys as standard otherwise you need to leave the room together or leave you partner in darkness whilst you nip outside for the shops etc..

We were on the 3rd floor (room 308) and found the room to be in good condition although very cramped. The en-suite facilities were again functional and stylish but again cramped. Its noted that buildings in Amsterdam are relatively small so we did not let this bother us too much but if you plan on using your room to host friends / family you may want to find somewhere else as space was limited here. Of course, we did not travel to Amsterdam to see the sights from the bedroom window, which was probably just as well as our room overlooked a "red light" window with a less than attractive lady on display. Aside from the room size there was one other negative point about our location in the hotel. Just outside our room was the dirty linen chute and although there was a sign that the door should be kept closed, it wasn't (probably broken latch) and the noise from the door being slammed and linen etc being thrown down the chute was a bit annoying. Did not bother me much as I am an early riser anyway, but could annoy others who like to sleep longer. Something to watch out for. Everything else with the room appeared to be fine and met with our requirements although the bed was very soft and not to my liking, but again I am only in it for a few hours each night but could be a problem for back sufferers and long sleepers.

We took breakfast once during our 3-night stay at the cost of 15 euros each. To be honest I was not all that pleased with the offering which was typically continental and I would have much preferred a full English, but it filled a hole and I probably saved on a few calories that day. I am sure my heart was grateful for that.

So, notwithstanding the comments made, which are very minor, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would certainly go back to the same place again if we ever decide to re-visit Amsterdam, which by the way was excellent and definitely well worth the trip. The staff were very friendly and most helpful, rooms clean and modern (although cramped) and the facilities were adequate for our needs. The location was ideal for us and everything we wanted to do was close by within a short walking distance. Trams to most destinations run right outside the hotel too but we only used these once as we walked everywhere (not being cyclists). So this place gets my recommendation and I hope you find this review helpful.

Room Tip: Room 308 was small and cramped but don't let it spoil your trip!

we make amsterdam a city break destination at least once a year and this is by far the BEST hotel we have ever stayed in, booking was easy and even numerous phone calls to the hotel to double-check our reservations were not 'fobbed off' but instead handled in a polite helpful manner, you always felt the staff went that extra mile to be patient and helpful at every opportunity. we stayed for 2 nights with friends but 3 seperate rooms, check-in was a dream, not complicated, such an easy straightforward process, a huge thankyou to Eric who was the most helpful and nicest member of the hotel who took care of every worry and question being very polite and patient with the group of us while still swiftly managing our check-in process... an utter credit to the westcord! the location is great, 5 mins to everything, food plaza right across the road, dam square 5 mins away, red light district 5 mins away and centraal station too!! cannot sing this hotel's praises enough, room cleaning services with fresh towels everyday etc. card key entrance after hours to the main entrance felt safe and the luggage storage before and after check-in/check-out with the ticket system was a great added touch. BUT the tempur mattress beds were to die for! if you dont like the awesome idea of sleeping on a giant marshmallow then these are not the beds for you...soooooo soft!! already re-booked for august, i think that says it all!!! :)

Room Tip: we had 4th floor, partially obstructed view, but a view regardless... water pressure was good, we ha...

The employees at the hotel were extremely kind and helpful. Both at the desk and in the dining room. The were always happy to assist with directions and with any needs I had. The dinning room service was always kind and with a smile

The hotel is located in a very nice place close to the city center. At the same time, it's very quiet inside and nothing interrupts a proper rest. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very cheerful, polite and always ready to assist. The only drawback is that the rooms are really small.
