Well situated (about 15 min walk from central station or 5 min on tram)

It has lovely spacious, comfortable lounge area. The free tea / coffee / choc machine and some cold drinks all day and night is a great touch and people sit around in the lounge chatting because of this -which makes it very friendly.
Fabulous 8 foot coral reef aquarium in main area will entertain children

I do have regular business trips to Amsterdam and will return to this hotel as it is value for money and very friendly (not the most luxurious hotel I have stayed in -so if that is what you want then you need to pay more)
Breakfast was also good (16 euros)
NB the room was a reasonable size for Amsterdam (where most are small in size)
The internet / wifi is an extra cost

This hotel is very quaint. The rooms are small but we thought adequate. The breakfast was very good try to get it included in price. It is within walking distance to everything. We found the front desk staff accomodating.
The walls were a bit thin and the outside noise was apparent but we did not let it bother us as the ambiance was wonderful. Beautifully decorated in old world charm.
Would stay there again for sure.

If you want an excellent hotel and are willing to pay the high price, then Hotel Estherea will not disappoint. What can you say that hasn't already been noted- we were not disappointed in the least with the facility or staff. The front desk personnel are superb. The Mac-daddy coffee machine is excellent. The location is perfect- within walking distance to many attractions (including Anne Frank's house). I suppose my only issue would be that we had to pay $35 Euro to keep the room to 2PM. Given our evening flight and amount of luggage we really had no other choice.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the canal gives you maximum enjoyment

This was the second time we stayed at the Estherea. Every aspect of the hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was clean, comfortable, and attractively decorated. The staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. The buffet breakfest was a bit expensive but very good. We a ordered room service dinner one evening because of inclement weather. It was delivered promptly and was excellent. The ground floor of the hotel had a series of interesting rooms, including a lobby, bar, library and reading room. We will certainly stay at this hotel again when we visit Amsterdam.

Room Tip: There are many different size rooms in this hotel. We ordered a deluxe double to get more space and were satiisfied with the results

The title says it all. We paid nearly 200 euros a night for our room and I have never stayed in such a poorly sound-insulated place. It is entirely possible to hear every sound above that of breathing from the adjacent rooms. I do mean "hear" and not "listen to". The sounds are conducted as though there are no walls between the rooms. A normal house's sound insulation would be far superior. I have stayed in hotels of all qualities on three continents and never experienced anything as poor. The hotel has a great location but fails the basic tasks of supplying a good night's sleep and some feeling of privacy. No amount of politeness at the front desk or a fancy lobby can compensate for those failings. When people are wandering around next door at two in the morning, apparently packing, having a discussion or talking on their mobile phones, leaving you to cope with every little noise as if they were in your bedroom, would you consider that worth paying a single euro for the privilege?
