The hotel is in an ideal location, just off Dam square. On the whole it was clean and comfortable but the bedroom was extremely small with no drawer space. The staff at reception were very helpful and polite, however we witnessed one member of the bar staff being unnecessarily short with a customer whose English was not very good

I spent nine nights at the Hotel Estherea during Easter holiday. Traveled solo, by well cared for by attentive staff. Prior to my visit, Suzy was very helpful in making arrangements, and advising me with transportation and tour options. Upon arrival, check in area was crowded, but Esther immediately came over and began the check in process with me. The desk is always fully staffed, and they will do everything to assist you. Loved my purple floral room! Lots of windows and light. Did not have canal view, but street view was fine, and not noisy. Bathroom was modern and fully stocked with L'Occitane bath products. Fridge with two small bottles of water (no charge), and iron and ironing board. Flat screen tv, with lots of channels. Public areas in the hotel are beautifully done in lush fabrics, wall coverings, and high end furnishings. Took advantage of buffet breakfast each morning. Full food selection, and always immediately replenished. A few times, there was an early morning crush of visitors dining prior to check out, but staff who immediately cleared and re-set tables. I believe there are 94 rooms, and hotel is always completely booked. Another welcoming feature is the coffee bar in the lobby, with different sweet treats available to guests each day, free of charge. Location is perfect for me. Close to Dam Square, but not in midst of all the hustle bustle of that mobbed area. Trams are nearby, and will take you all over Amsterdam. Singel Street and surrounding area has restaurants and shopping. The desk also provides tour information, and Singh and Wendy were very helpful. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff are outstanding. Can't wait to return.

We stayed here over Christmas and I chose the Hotel Estherea because I wanted us to have a nice place to be over the holidays. Everything was wonderful! It is elegant and the staff is all very friendly. We got a pretty good deal but wish we would have gone ahead and paid for the breakfast in advance- it's cheaper that way and breakfast was very tasty. I believe if you book direct you get free wi-fi, so make sure you book on their website! It's not far from the Dam Square but is quiet and in a nice area of Amsterdam. The tram stops aren't a far walk.

Room Tip: We got the standard room and it was great- was facing into a terrace so I don't believe there ar...

We had a family room at the back of the hotel. It was fairly spacious for a European hotel -- and lots of big windows overlooking the street -- but still a tight fit for four people, particularly with a very small bathroom. That said, the hotel setting is lovely -- very old Europe, traditional decor, dark wall paper and burgundy and crystal chandeliers and such -- and the staff is very good. The pink bar is small but the service is excellent and the drinks were delicious. We did not partake of the breakfast but we enjoyed many free lattes and hot chocolate from the lobby machine. Overall a very good place to stay, but pricey, and a bit tight. You might be able to get a less expensive or larger room in an American hotel chain, but you'd be missing out on character and location, in my opinion. Try it!

The hotel was very good in respect of the staff's politeness and helpfulness and the furnishings and fittings were high quality. Breakfast was very good. Bar was very small and cramped. Room (de-luxe) was cluttered with too much furniture so it was difficult to move around. The bathroom did not have the toilet within it. The toilet was in a separate cubicle on the other side of the room and without a washbasin. Unsatisfactory and inconvenient. Not worth 234 euros a night.

A comfortable, stunningly presented and centrally located hotel. Having a room overlooking the canal added to the pleasures of our stay. A generous breakfast albeit in a somewhat cramped space! Recommended.
