“Great Location, Lovely Hotel”
Reviewed 10 May 2014 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here back in February during a 4 day break to Amsterdam.
Hotel estherea is in a great location which is just around the corner from the main square. This means we were able to walk everywhere, which is ideal.
We used the tripadvisor code to get a free upgrade (definitely recommend doing this).
The staff at the hotel were lovely and despite there being ongoing work at the hotel during our stay, this did not affect our enjoyment.

Stayed in the hotel for 5days and had a very pleasant homey feeling. With great view of the canal. Though it is around 15 to 20 mins walk to the train station, you will really enjoy the walk along the Plaza. Breakfast is perfect with good coffee!

Besides being a gorgeous property with tremendous service and a great location, they went beyond the call after my wife injured herself (no fault of the hotel) in the bathroom. They responded immediately, and arranged for a doctor to tend to her injury in the hotel room! The served us breakfast while we waited for the doctor. Medical house call - unheard of in the US. They were also very accommodating of my wife's disability needs.

We were treated like royalty, from the booking right through the check out. The bartender, Martin(not spelled correctly!) was especially helpful, courteous and extremely personable.
Although the bed was somewhat difficult to get comfortable in, in no way did it detract from a wonderful time.

Very well located, we could walk to the most I portant sites. The hotel has been newly renovated and the attention to detail was impressive. Breakfast was superb. The best aspect was the service, from the staff at the desk to the housekeeping to our bestie in the bard, Martijne. We had a fabulous time and will stay here when we return!

Location and staff are the top reasons to select this hotel. Traveled with three adults and shared a family room. Very comfortable for a three day stay in Amsterdam. Appreciated large bathroom and plenty of plugs for everyone to "charge up." Although beds were single beds, bedding was excellent and comfortable. Hotel has a very small elevator so three plus luggage in elevator at same time not possible. Decor in hotel was lovely and loved exploring the public rooms on first floor - was not until second day I found the fish pond off the library. Stair option is steep and narrow, but that is what one should expect for the type of accomodation. Breakfast was quick and good and worth purchasing there instead of looking in areal. Staff was exceptional - even as I was emailing from the States - responsive and very helpful. Dealt with all our requests and gave us all the information we needed. Location is near the Anne Frank House and an excellent restaurant area. Hotel is right on a canal within a row of canal homes. I would call this hotel a hidden "jewel." P.S. If you book online instead of through an online booking agency, the cost of breakfast is reduced.

Room Tip: Family room on first floor overlooked an interior courtyard so was hard to tell outside weather. We...
