“Clean & modern hotel , good central location near station”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2009

Quite a dowdy hotel from outside but on entering I was pleasantly surprised. Modern foyer , friendly helpful staff. On arrival to our room , it hadnt been cleaned. We rang reception and our room was upgraded and we were granted free access to the club lounge ( private area with free drinks & snacks ) and they also included breakfast which was previously not included. We were thrilled !
Great location, we walked from the station. Central to all sights and close to a tram stop. Amsterdam is very expensive to eat and drink but so are most european cities. We had a great time though .We walked miles to explore . Ann Frank house worth a visit, also the Heineken museum was great. Wouldnt bother with canal cruise everyone looked bored sick on them !
Would use this hotel again and recommend it to you for your Amsterdam stay !

The hotel has completed its renovation. Rooms appear fresh and clean, the beds are very comfortable, there was no noise (our room faced the hotel entrance street), and it had all the standard conveniences. The bathroom was clean, well lit, with good quality towels, and enough room on the counter to store one's toiletries. The faucets function perfectly well, and both, the water temperature and pressure were excellent. The maid service was efficient and detailed in the restocking of all room amenities. However, the carpet was not vacuumed during the entire 5 day stay.

Breakfast at the restaurant was nothing out of the ordinary. The buffet offered the staple scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and some cooked vegetables; all of standard quality and fresh. Eggs to order were made behind the buffet line; not sure about pancakes or waffles). Juices were close to freshly squeezed, and good quality, but not the real thing (heartburn problems). The pastries seemed freshly baked, but not made from scratch as you would expect from a higher quality kitchen product. Fruit was scarce and not very tasty. Cereals were from individual boxes; no pre-made muesli. For two guys who rely on breakfast as one of the main two meals for a long day of walking, this breakfast did not do much. Restaurant service was very good: Attentive and helpful. I have to say that we did not asked for anything other than what was displayed on the buffet.

The hotel lobby is modern, clean, and offers a feeling of an open, minimalistic space.

I was told I was in a newly renovated room - I'm not sure how recently - but the decor was very pretty, the bed extremely comfortable, and the room was overall an excellent place to return after a day of work (and often, keep working). The location is a convenient short walk to Centraal station, the red light district, and some decent food options. My experience with room service was not very good and the food was pretty poor. The restaurant in the hotel isn't great but was a good option after a long day. The bathroom was a tad cramped but had a good sized tub and excellent water pressure. I didn't use (or see) the fitness room but if/when I return for work, I'm glad to know they have one.

My biggest complaint, I found the 20+ Euros per day charge for internet really ridiculous, and the business center computers were slow - and another guest advised that they quit out mid-task very often.

The staff was friendly and overall this will be my "go to" hotel when I'm there on business again. It was very corporate/chain feeling hotel though, if you don't like that ambiance. For the amenities and the friendly staff, I definitely would recommend.

We recently stayed here for four nights and we couldn't fault this hotel. The refurbishment was finished last month and everything is pristine. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful and we enjoyed being able to walk so quickly from the train station to the hotel and tfrom the hotel o the hustle and bustle of the city. We will definitely return.

While as previous reviews said, there is some construction going on around, it didn't bother me a bit. My room was comfortable and clean. I stayed here on my Priority Club points (Platinum member). It was about a a 50$ ride from the airport to here, although you can take the train to Centraal Station for much less and the hotel is just a skip away, easy to walk. Right out the hotel are paths leading everywhere you might want to go in downtown. Be warned there is a smaller red light area if you make a left out of the hotel and start wandering around that area, all perfectly safe though. Go right out of the hotel, and just 100ft up is one of the main drags. Left brings you to a sparser area, but a good Irish pub and some head shops, and going right brings you more towards the center. If you're paying for this hotel, you might find it a little on the pricey side, but I would pay to stay here with no problem.

The location of this hotel for those visiting Amsterdam is absolutely perfect. 5 minutes walk from Centraal Station and located at the end of one of the shopping streets it couldn't be much more central.

I stayed here two years ago but since then the rooms have been renovated and are much more of what you would expect from a four star hotel.

Only minor downside was that the club lounge is no longer on the roof but is now on the ground floor and has a very sterile feeling to it.

This is a high standard hotel, and has been refurbished since I last stayed a year ago. A perfect base for both business and leisure, two minutes from Amsterdam Central train station.
