This hotel is well located for the RAI conference centre (about 10 minutes walk) and very close to Station and Tram ( route 4) starting point, so convenient to get into town. Decor a bit tired and perhaps a tad overpriced but overall quite a pleasant stay.

Stayed in the hotel for business purposes for a week. Location wise hotel is good because of the nearby metro station.

Staff is very friendly. We had a room in the 6th floor and at least our room was starting to show its age. The bathroom also would need a little refresh. We used the wifi, which was not that good in the room. We also asked for the iron and ironing board which was delivered to the room really quickly but the on/off switch on the board was broken and was perhaps not the most safe way to use it. Not a bid deal as such but I am not a fan of possible unexpected electric shocks.

Breakfast is good. Did not try the restaurant in the evening so dont know about that.

Parking is max EUR25/day - which looks like a decent offer in Amsterdam. There is also another parking garage next door but the 24h rate is higher than the hotel.

In the end the hotel is not bad, as expected from a major hotel chain. However, I do feel that the price was bit too high for the quality. Also, a thought came to my mind if the Novotel across the road would be better...

Dear James_82_13,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Tripadvisor.
It is great to read you enjoyed the service our team provided during your business stay at Holiday Inn Amsterdam. Most of our rooms have been refurbished in 2009 and we are planning to make some changes to the property soon. A iron and iron board should be available in the room and I will definately make sure this will be checked. Especially the one which was brought up to your room.
Kind regards,
Pascal Aartman

This is an excellent place to staying, particularly for conference near the RAI Conference center and rail station. However, people arriving in the morning should be given good places to rest till room are available

Room Tip: Rooms on the outer edges are sunny

Dear david k,
Thank you for leaving a review on Tripadvisor.
It is great to read you have enjoyed your stay and appreciated the location of the hotel.
We do try to accommodate early check ins, but unfortunately due to occupancy this is not always possible. Our restaurant and bar offer some quiet spaces to relax during the wait.
Thank you again for your review.

We have just arrived from our holiday in Amsterdam and I must say we had a wonderful stay at Holiday Inn. Everything was fine, the staff very friendly the beakfast buffet excellent and especially the coffee machine where you can choose your own preffered type of coffee is dreamy. The hotel is not new, it could use a renovation, but if you are not too picky it will not be a problem. The hotel is very close to a beautiful park. We could walked through it forever. Be very careful which train you get from the airport! Better ask if is the right train otherwise you find yourself in the wrong direction. Also when you get out from RAI station make right for the hotel, not left. (we made left and it wasn't good). This is for AMsterdam in general: if you have VISA premium card or electron it will not work everywhere, which was weird and nobody could explain what was the problem. So in someplaces works in some doesn't. Overall we had a fantastic time in AMsterdam and Holiday Inn.

Holiday Inn is charging 22 Eur / 24 hour internet access which is a rip off and in times of free internet everywhere just a no go. Internet at Novotel right next door is free of charge and they have Mac stations in the lobby. Always recommend Novotel over Holiday Inn when you want stay close to the RAI exhibition centre.

I spent 2 nights here in May with a conference and got a reasonable feel for the place. On the whole it's pretty good though I will say that the rooms are looking tired and are need of refurbishment. The communal areas are perfectly nice, the bar has a decent vibe and the food all week was very good. The high point for me was the staff who were extremely helpful and accommodating.
In terms of location it's well placed for the RAI but it is a little bit out of town. It's probably a 20 minute tram ride in but it's also well placed next to a direct train from the airport.
