“Luxurious, modern hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 September 2010

This was an amazing hotel, with very friendly front desk staff that went out of their way to be helpful. The rooms were not large, but were very well equipped with beautiful bedding, 40" flat screen TVs and every possible amenity. No bathtub, but a good, modern shower that looked recently updated. There is a terrfic bar with modern decor and small food menu as well as a great pub-style bistro, a bit hidden at the back of the hotel, through the bar that offers burgers and sandwiches inside and on an outdoor patio. For the international traveller who wants to have some casual food choices for early dining after an overseas flight, this hotel had much to offer. We tried a trattoria across the street from the hotel pub for dinner and had a lovely meal. This was a luxury hotel in every way.

A cab from the airport to the hotel costs 45 Euros!! We chose to take a hotel shuttle instead. You can follow the signs once you come out of baggage claim. We took the Connexxion shuttle and it was 25 euros if you purchase a round trip ticket or 15 euros one way. I believe there is also public transportation that can take you to central station.
Hotel is located close to tram stop and a short walk to central station
Hotel a bit outdated. Our room was in a different wing of the hotel and we had to take 2 elevators and walk down several hallways to get to it. Front desk staff are nice and when we asked to switch rooms they were willing to accomodate us
Room is an average size for Europe standards. We didnt spend much time in the room except to sleep and shower. they have lots of English channels on TV
Hotel concierge sells tickets to the museums at cost. I thought this was great as it saves time having to stand in lines at the museums or go to the TIs to purchase them.
They also sell the 24 hour transportation card for 7 euros. It can be used on trams, metro, train and bus. Individual tickets are 2.60 euros so its worth it to get the pass.
You can also charge these to your room. We used the tram to get most places
I had heard that many places dont take credit card in Amsterdam but most of the places we went to did. Only a few did not. If you change money at the airport I think if you change at least $300 they waive the commission fee that they usually charge.
Maps can be a little confusing but if you are up for trying to figure it out its not impossible and people at the hotel and restaurants are very nice and most will try to help you.
20 Euros for 24 hour internet!! And you have to pay for internet in the public area as well. On the public internet area by the lounge, they do let you print your boarding passes for free which I thought was nice even if you couldnt use the internet for free.
We did not eat at the hotel restaurant.
For a Marriott property I thought it was an OK hotel for the price.
Bring an umbrella. Apparently it rains alot in Amsterdam and it rained 2 out of 3 days we were there.

Enjoyed stay. Room was very nice. Great recommendations from the concierge (handlebar moustache). Will definitely stay here again if in Amsterdam. Needed to get a few things (extra robe and toiletries) for the room, which were delivered with a smile and a chocolate by housekeeping.

Breakfast on first morning was very disorganised - a list of those with included breakfast would be a lot more efficient rather than fill out a form.

Check-in and out was a little chaotic. The hotel being full is not an excuse - this is what should be the case.

Overall, a good business hotel. Check-in was swift and the concierge was very helpful with information. The room is on the small scale, but it has been renovated with contemporary decor and clean, nice bathroom. We didn't have the breakfast so couldn't comment on the quality. The hotel also has a decent size gym. The free packs of gummy bears offered at the front desk were a nice touch.

The hotel is centrally located with tram stops and a supermarket nearby. Also walking distance to the central station. The Italian restaurant just around the corner serves fabulous food.

The only down side is its less-than-appealing corridor, and a bit lack of value-added services in terms of the price paid. Stay here if you don't mind business style hotels or if you are in Amsterdam for a short period of time.

Good hotel - excellent location. Close to the centre but still not too close to the action. We had a deluxe-room which was nice but quite small. This is the kind of hotel where al lot of things costs money. 24h internet - approx 24 Euro. Breakfast approx 20Euro. The restaurant seemed nice but expensive. Maybe we were out place - most of the other quests seemed to be 50+.

This is a hotel we would recommend depending how much you are paying for it. The night-rate if not using a booking site is 400Euro/night (we paid 160). Good but not great. Great location. A place where you sleep and not much more. ( and we slept quite bad since the bed was waaay to soft)

We intended to stay here two nights, however after an awful first night we decided to check-out early and stay elsewhere. Hotels website terribly misrepresents the conditions at this hotel. We checked in at the late evening and were offered an upgraded club room, which was more of a hinderance than help. Our room was located in an adjacent tower-requiring us to take multiple elevators and a lengthy corridor to reach the room. Walls and doors at this property are paper thin, after returning from a late night out we faced hallway noise throughout the night and didn't get any sleep. Security and front desk did not follow-up on our complaints. We discovered by reading the in-room services directory that the property was converted from a Ramada Inn. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the breakfast which was fantastic. Next time I'm in Amsterdam I'll be staying at Hotel Pulitzer.

This visit to the Renaissance I stayed on the "Executive/Club Level" Rooms in the 900 series. I recieved a room on the top (attic) floor . The SPACIOUS room featured an outside view through floor to ceiling windows (which opened). The angled ceilings caused me to repeatedly hit my head which allowed me to improvise a story for my co workers about a late night run in with some non existant female mugger. The INTERNET Connection was as fast as advertised and easy to use. The Lounge offered free snacks in the evening, a continental breakfast in the morning and newspapers. The lounge also provided a lot of room to socialise with many sitting areas. It could be considered an extension of your hotel room. The lobby by the way features a striking fireplace. the gas fueled fire is a conversation piece. My room Service meal was delivered quickly and the order was accurately filled. One night I came back late to the hotel, very hungry after a full day of work. The Bar Tender at the Koepelcafe persuaded the Chef in the kitchen to prepare a meal for me. Very thoughtful and appreciated. The front desk staff made checking in/out a pleasure. All my early wake up calls were delivered by a real person! The wake up calls were accurate and necessary because the bed provided me with a terrfic night's sleep. No problem with noise or any element of my 100% Wonderful stay.
