We stayed in the hotel in the August 2012. We booked it for a very reasonable price for four nights. We came by car, so our goal was to get a cheap hotel with possibility of parking. And Tulip Inn it was. I was a bit sceptical, because it is marked as a motorway hotel, but in fact, it is a bit off the motorway. Anyway, the sound of motorway is heard very much. There are plenty of parking spaces, behind the fence(which is never closed), in front of the hotel. We were given a spacious (25m2) room on a second (top) floor facing inner yard, countryside and a canal. Room was a bit tired, but its size, amenities and large bathroom compensated everything. Everything in hotel looks a bit tired.Maybe because it is always full.
Breakfast was ok, without surpluses, hotel also had its own, rather expensive and not very tasteful restaurant. Bar/restaurant also has a neat seating area in the garden and in front of the canal, but the chairs are dirty and scraped, there is full of fag ends etc.
The biggest thing that bothered me was, that they advertise bicycle rental in the hotel. Everybody cycles in the Amsterdam. But its "rental service" has only about 10 bikes for 192 rooms! We payed for two bikes and were given one bike with a flat tyre and there was no one that could fixed it. As we asked on the recption were we can rent a bike in vicinity of ther hotel, they were not able to give us an answer. Their only answer was in the city center, 8 km away! Luckily we found bike rental shop in the nearby camp site, about 500 from the hotel and we even got better bikes with gears, even cheaper as in the hotel.
As I said, hotel lies almost in the middle of nowhere, on the outskirts of the Amterdam, rather far from the Subway, about 15 minute walk from the hotel. Subway takes you in city center in 15 minutes or it is a 45 minute bicycle drive, through some Afro-arabian immigrant neighbourhoods.
To summarize, we really enjoyed Amsterdam and were away in the city for whole days, so I did not have troubles sleeping, inversely, I slept like a baby. Though the people really did not used the doorknobs, doors were slamming all the time. The food was mediocre, location was ok, because of the free parking, everything in the hotel was tired, many bus tour guests but the value of the hotel was excellent.
