Came there very late and went on very early next morning.

I can only say, this Hotel is very nice and clean, had more than 3 restaurants.
We ate on one of these, its very expensive cause of the luxury.

Its 20min of walking distance to the Holland Casino and all the pubs, shopping etc.

Anyway, I loved it, the room was big and we got these exclusive rooms.
It was all free though, I would never pay for so much for a room, cause on vacation, you're not supposed to be in the room :D

We got this hotel for $150/night on Priceline. As expected this is a nice hotel with well decorated, clean and quiet rooms. We passed on their 30€ breakfast and walked to a brood shop in the near by De Pjpe neighborhood for sweet rolls and coffee. If you don't need to be close to the city center this is a nice place to recover from jet lag.

Wifi was expensive here but there are Internet cafes and unsecured wifi in the area.

Hotel Okura is a wonderful hotel just south of the city center. You do need to take some sort of transportation to get to the sites of the city. We had a wonderful time riding around the city on bikes...it is the most relaxing and fun way to see Amsterdam.

This was our first time traveling to Europe and we were dreading the size of the rooms. At Hotel Okura, the rooms are what you would expect in a nicer US hotel like a Hyatt - nice sheets, slippers, marble or granite counters. It was a wonderful place to rest after a full day of site seeing and bike riding.

We didn't try any of the restaurants because we wanted to experience Amsterdam's cuisine, but it looked exquisite and the restaurant on the top floor had an incredible view.

We got a secret deal on lastminute and initially I was disappointed with the location, being further out of town. However in the end, we really enjoyed the neighbourhood, it had a more of a local feel and the market near by was excellent. I have stayed in the centre of town previously and this was far more relaxed and less touristy. The trams come regularly and whisk you to town pretty quickly so we didn’t feel like we were missing out.
The hotel itself is very luxurious, we paid half price for a suite and it was huge, with king size bed and a bathroom almost as big as my London flat. The views were also great! My only grip was that our climate control wasn't working so our room was very warm when trying to sleep.
Breakfast was free as part of our deal and while it was nice I wouldn’t have wanted to pay the €30 charge.
It’s also easy and quick to get to/from the airport by taxi/shuttle or even catching the train, which we did on the way back; the RAI station only a 15 minute walk.
All in all, a good standard hotel and deserving of its 5 star rating, with very attentive service. Like most of these type of hotels, paying full whack on the personal account is perhaps a step to far but if you can get a good deal it is well worth it.
