Really comfortable hotel with great rooms. The bar was very friendly and was showing the Germans getting beaten by Italy so a good evening was had :-)

Given a choice of two restaurants, I ate in the non-Japanese one where the food was excellent but the service rather slow and didnt match up to the standard of cooking.

Check out was efficient and I felt valued.

Will stay there again

Great Hotel. Door-men especially helpful with transportation.
Convenient distance to RAI, the exhibition center and good restaurants 5 minutes walk away. Tram 25 (or 24?) takes you to the city center in about 15 minutes.

There's a halal pakistani restaurant nearby for muslim travellers if you are looking for one.

Teppanaki restaurant in the hotel is very good

Myself and boyfriend have just returned from a lovely stay at the Okura Hotel. After checking out many hotel reviews for hotels in Amsterdam we chose the Okura based on it's 5* status. This hotel does not disappoint...a definite 5* with great attention to detail, efficient and professional members of staff at reception and throughout the hotel...Dutch hospitality at it's best!

Although the hotel looks slightly further out of the main city centre on a map, it really isn't and is set in a great location right on a lovely Canal and only a 1 minute walk to the nearest tram stop ~ Cornelis Troostplein and Tram 25a which goes direct to all the main tourist attractions and to Amsterdam Centraal Station (1 hour ticket = 2.70e and 24h ticket = 7.50e) . A taxi from Amsterdam Centraal Station to the Okura Hotel will cost around 25-30e one way.

We stayed in a double room which was very comfortable with a large TV, huge bathroom with a TV at the end of the bath, two sinks and lots of lovely toiletries in addition to the shower gel and shampoo located in the shower cubicle. We loved the two gadgets in our room which allows you to close the curtains, turn lights on/off by a click of a button!

Our room also contained a Nespresso coffee machine with lots of different types of coffee capsules to try out in addition to the lovely variety of tea on offer too. One thing that could be improved upon is to include milk pots in the rooms as we had no milk to have with our tea/coffee and had to phone down to room service to bring a small jug up to our room.

The main negative comment I have regarding the Okura was that the Swimming Pool, Sauna, Steam room and gym facilities were an extra charge to use at 15 euros per day. I was disappointed that this was the case since we were guests already staying at the hotel and would have enjoyed using these facilities whilst staying at the hotel and would have expected this to be included as they are in many other top 5* hotels which I have stayed at throughout the World.

Overall I would highly recommend this super hotel, great location and great hospitality we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Room 604 had a lovely view overlooking the nearby canal and City.

Our family stayed at the Hotel Okura Amsterdam and we could not have asked for a better experience. The staff treated us like family and it felt like home. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and we will definitely return as soon as we can. We stayed for a total of 8 nights and we wish it could have been longer. Everyone was kind, friendly, and accommodating and the executive room suite with fabulous views of the city was breathtaking. The buffet breakfasts, health club and pool, and executive lounge were an added bonus. We definitely recommend this hotel and we will always remember the gracious, warm, and dedicated people who helped to make our trip to Amsterdam one that we will always cherish!

Room Tip: Trust the staff. They will make you happy.

On June 2012 I've been to the Hotel Okura in Amsterdam, the room and the foow were ok. It is nearest to the city centre (by tram or taxi not by walking). Suggested!

I stayed at the hotel for a conference. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, but I was somewhat surprised to find that the plug in the tub did not work, so I could not take a bath. This is something that should naturally work in a hotel of this standard. We had breakfast in the hotel, and although the quality and selection is ok, it is vastly overpriced at €29. So only have breakfast there if you absolutely need to. Conference facilities were spacious, but chairs could be more comfortable if you have to sit down all day as we did. The biggest problem however is the air conditioning. It is FREEZING in the breakfast restaurant as well as in the conference rooms. We told staff about this, but little did it help. I had to wear my jacket for day 2 of the conference in order to keep warm. In contrast, rooms are extremely hot which made it difficult to sleep. The location is fine for a conference as you are only a short drive from the airport, but if you are visting Amsterdam for a holiday, I would stay somewhere more central.

This is probably the best hotel near the RAI centre but it is about 20 minutes by tram from the city centre.
If I was coming to Amsterdam as a tourist, I would probably look for something more central.
If your visit is for bussiness or for a conference at the RAI centre this hotel will be hard to beat. It is a fairly modern hotel and it shows in that everything has been purposefully designed.
