“A nice surprise”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

Are you looking for a central and new hotel that leave you a feeling as you stay at home? Go to Radisson Blu. It is a quiet new hotel with a nice surprise when you get in, not expected from the street view of the main facade. I stayed there for five nights and I've book the suite Ruyschen via internet. It is a very comfortable room for four people (we were two adults and two children, 6 and 9). There is in the suite a large king size bed and a large sofa bed and when you have it open you still have a lot of space in the room. The bathroom is with Jacuzzi and a large shower. The suite has a nice view over one of the main canals of the central Amsterdam and has many large windows. The hotel is located in a quiet area but very central to every point you need to go. In few minutes you have the well known MacBike at Waterlooplein, or the Dam Square or the railway central station or the Vondelpark. If you need you can hire the bike also in the hotel, but I think only for adult people, not a smaller one for children. All the staff is really nice and polite, from the check in, to the breakfast time, to the nice bar inside the hotel, to the conciergerie, to che check out time. When I'll come back back to Amsterdam I will stay here again for sure.

Once again I want to rate this hotel "GOOD" rather than "average" or "very good". I wish tripadvisor would change it's rating system. So, annoying!!!!

Stayed here for three nights with my other half. Overall things were fine, but there was one important thing that I hated about our room. Had I known it was likely to be overlooking the inner atrium of the hotel (ie. no view and no fresh air) I would NEVER have booked it. This was not made clear on the booking site, and I didn't see anyone mention this important point on Tripadvisor. The hotel is in two buildings, a main building where we stayed, and a secondary building that faced a canal and looked more premium from the outside. Perhaps the best rooms are in here (I'm not sure). Certainly they use many photos of the better building in there marketing.
There are many good things about this hotel, so if a view isn't important to you then you'll probably be happy here.

Positive points:
Big room, nicely decorated.Tea and coffee making facilities.
Good location, close to almost everything
Fabulous breakfast, huge variety, everything fresh
Friendly staff, (but you'd expect that really).

Negative points:
Most rooms face an inner courtyard, so there is no view. Weirdly the windows do still open - completely pointless as there's no fresh air to be had!
Rooms tend to face each other (see my photo) so there is no privacy. We had to keep our curtains closed to stop people being able to see us get changed etc.
Pillows in the room were poor quality and way too soft. No extra pillows stored in the closet.
Storage barely adequate for a stay longer than two nights. No chest drawers, just some open shelves in the small closet.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces outside, with fresh air.

Hi everyone .. This hotel is located really well if you don't want to have anything to do with taxi :)
What you spend on what you get as report it's fine .. But don't get things to drink at the bar in the lobby .. Way out of price :(
For the rest is really a good place :)

This was our first visit to Amsterdam and to this hotel. Found it online. We loved the location...walking distance of Dam Square....and many restaurants, and overlooking a canal. Our very modern updated room on the 4th floor overlooked the street....not noisy with good windows. Great breakfast buffet, enough to last all day. Staff was uniformly friendly and willing to accommodate our needs. We'd stay here again and I'd recommend this is a very good value.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu for 3 nights. It is situated on a quiet street in a fabulous central location (5 minute walk to Dam Square). The hotel lobby is expansive and airy. We were in a "superior" room with a king size bed - very spacious room; large bathroom and immaculately clean!
We included the breakfast in our rate - the buffet was quite good - choices ranged from a variety of fresh-cut fruits to yogurts to meats to cheeses to "made to order" eggs. It was more than enough to keep us going til a mid-afternoon snack. The bar was comfortable and afforded a great place to watch World Cup Soccer with other guests. There is a work-out area but as we walked and biked literally everywhere in the city, we never used it or visited it. The concierge staff as well as the reception staff were gracious and polite. We would certainly stay here again upon our return to Amsterdam.

I have spent in this hotel one night waiting for flight. Hotel is well situated in Amsterdam's city center. I had very nice room with queens bad, kettle and what is most important for me during business trips ironing set. Room was spacy and nice, bath room clean. I had the whole afternoon free so I did the channels boat trip ( 10 EUR) the stop is situated 5 min. walk from the hotel. I received the city map and some hints about most interesting places. Due to convenient location you can easily walk to main attractions. If you prefer shopping than touring you may also reach the shopping area which is 10 min walk from hotel.
Being there try to manage do the boat trip. It takes 1 hour and you can do it even late night, this may give you some taste of Amsterdam. I can recommend staying it this hotel.
