“Clean hotel in great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2011

My wife and I spent a night here during our European holiday and don't regret chosing the hotel mainly for the location and well known brand.

Rooms are small although neat and modern. Perfect position if you arrive/depart by train and from which to explore the city either by tram, ubiquitous bicycles or canal cruise, all located literally in front of the hotel.

Breakfast was very good regarding variety and taste. Internet access in lobby was relatively cheap and fast, coin operated. Luggage storage allowed extra time for sight seeing after check in and seemed secure.

On the expensive side, but worth it considering all.

We could not fault with the hotel. After early morning flight we were pleasently surprised informed we could check in at 9am.
The rooms are small but this is Amsterdam, they were clean and functional. Shower always produced hot water and pressure not bad.
No tea / coffee machine in the room. There is a 24hr self service but the coffee was 2.5 Euros.
As mentioned in majority of reports, location was great.
We did have breakfast included in the rate and it was a good standard and available from 6am - 12pm it also allows people to lie in.
I would stay again and recommend others to do so.

This hotel has an excellent location, right next to Centraal Station. At first sight, we thought it would be noisy; it is literally right above the railway tracks ! However, this proved not to be the case, and the sound-proofing seemed pretty good. We arrived at 11:30 am and were given immediate access to our room, which was typical of the Ibis brand - clean, but fairly basic. Bed was comfortable, shower functional, pretty standard Ibis fare. The optional breakfast, which was included in our package, was worth the money, although not up to the standard of a recent Premier Inn stay in London. The reception staff were friendly and allowed us to leave our luggage after checking-out as we had a late flight back to Scotland. No charge and it was safely locked away. Well worth doing the Canal cruise which conveniently leaves from a jetty just in front of the hotel. All in all, we found the Ibis to be a reliable value-for-money choice for a short break in Amsterdam.

I visited Amsterdam in May 2010. I stayed there for 1 night and 2 days at the Ibis Amsterdam Center. It costed me around 140 Euros - did not find a better place at a good price. The best part of this place is the connectivity and proximity to all the happening places in Amsterdam.
Best things:
The breakfast was real good.
Hotel staff were courteous.
Real nice and cozy room for a solo traveller (costly though)
Not so good:
Expensive - due to central location (and season might be - Keukenhof Tulip show)
Hot water tap was not working

You just need to take a 1 day tram pass and roam around full day (and night). Unfortunately there was some kind of a strike and the garbage was not cleaned and so Amsterdam was looking not so clean. But it is a must visit place.

Funny description on the site of IBIS Amsterdam Centre: they would exceed my expectations of the room etc?

This looked like a youth hostel, black hairs in towel and bed. Can it get dirtyer?

WIFI only via reception, very easy uhuh. The staff in bar talking about you, only a bit to loud so you hear it. I would compare it with an overpriced youth hostel

My next time? Will pay 75 euro more and go to a decent hotel, less close to the Central Station.

The rooms and bathrooms are too small. For the price one pays in Europe, you would get a 4 star hotel in USA. But I guess Europe is too expensive. The hotel is in a good locaton, next to the train station and restaurant areas. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is decent. Have stayed many times at this Ibis hotel.
