“Good hotel, friendly and efficient”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

Arrived early to a smiling, friendly and efficient receptionist, checking in two hours early was no problem. Excellent location, good buffet breakfast, double room for myself and wife was fine, and despite the location (above rail station and next to busy roads) it was well soundproofed. The bed was as comfortable as they advertise. So everything considered we have no complaints. If and when we return to Amsterdam, we'll certainly use this hotel again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 6th floor - great views of city centre....

The rooms were small. The wifi connection was slow and not good in some areas. The breakfast was ok but with only few selections. The location was very good as it is walking distance only from the redlight district and restaurants/shopping areas.

We stayed two nights in July and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Yes, the rooms are small - this is a true European hotel and you get what you expect for this type of hotel. I thought breakfast was a bit pricey 17 euro per person for a buffet. We did end up eating there and it was good, not really lacking anything, but nothing spectacular either. Convenient location to the train station and the city center.

We stayed here from 12th July - 14th July 2014. The hotel is in an excellent location, right next to the train station where you can get to Schipol Airport in 15 minutes for 5 Euros per person. It is a ten minute walk from Dam square and opposite the canal boat which were well worth doig and about 9 euros for an hours trip.

On check in the staff were very friendly spoke perfect English which was very useful. They gave us maps and discount vouchers for various different attractions.

We stayed in room 857. You have to go up two seperate lifts to get there which is a bit of a pain. The room itself was very clean, the bed was very comfy, there was no noise from the train station below. It's basic but that's what you expect when you stay in an ibis. One thing I didn't like was there was no complimentary tea and coffee / kettle in the room which is a minor thing but it is nice to have.

A few places worth a visit are; the Heineken museum, Anne franks house (but buy tickets in advance or you'll have to queue ages), the red light district is worth a look at and the canal yours were great.

I always choose Ibis hotels when travelling abroad because of their good quality/price offer as well as their location and for me that was the only best thing in Amsterdam because it was just next to Central Station.
The hotel was pricey compared to other hotels in Europe (for the same standard) and unfortunately, during the check out, the reception desk officer blocked 3 times on 2 different credit cards the amount due to pay. That left me without any back up on my credit card because of a stupid mistake made by an untrained staff.

Good location, visible from Centraal Station. We were able to go through the check in process at 11am, but they didn't have any rooms available until after 2pm.
Prices gradually rose when they included breakfast, city tax (!) and a conversion to GBP and it was just under 200EUR for one night! A friend stayed in The Convent hotel just down the road and that was far superior for less money (same Accor Hotels chain).
We were on the 7th floor which required a particular lift, a walk across a sky bridge and then another lift. Room pretty standard and what you expect from an Ibis.
Even though we'd paid for breakfast, our room number wasn't on the list. The guy let us in anyway and breakfast was ok - Scrambled and fried eggs, sausages and bacon and loads of cold juices.
Would probably look at a few other options rather than stay here again.
