I imagine that if you woke up here and forgot where you were you could be in just about any Ibis hotel world wide.

Not that there is anything wrong with that. The bed were comfortable, the room was very clean and the reception service was friendly, "young", attentative, and efficient.

We asked or a room overlooking the canal and was given one, we were able to check in early which was an unexpected bonus.

The security of their luggage store could be a bit of a concern. The door opens out into a space just near the waiting area off the lobby.

I would not eat there, we purchased one evening meal, the service was so so and the value not very good. There was a breakdown in communication apparently with the waiter over what we ordered and the staff obviously don't know how to handle such situations correctly.

The breakfast servings was adequate.

The location was away from the main areas and a fair walk from the station but not too bad. There is a dutch resistance museum nearby which we found excellent.

In summary, it was a comfortable, clean room at a good price (a 3 for 2 deal). The reception staff were excellent. The restaurant and breakfast were adequate but not outstanding. If you wanted to stay in an atmospheric Amsterdam hotel then go elsewhere but if you want cheap, affordable comfort (with a lift) then this is a good choice.

The internet was expensive but is common across the Accor chain

I have stayed at Ibis hotels all over Europe, I like this chain as they are above average and you always know what you are going to get.

This Ibis is good value for money but the location could be better, I would recommend staying at the one by Central Station instead.

This hotel offers a comfortable option for people who don't want to spend their entire trip to Amsterdam in the hotel room. I recently took a trip there with family, and this Ibis was a really good choice for us. We were up and out of the hotel by 9:00 each morning and only returned at the end of a long day to sleep! Rooms were as expected- small, functional and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
I can't comment on the food there, as we ate out every day. If you don't want to pay for breakfast there ( I think it's €15 or thereabouts), Tony's NY city bagels is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel on Jodenbreestraat 15 is a really good value alternative.

Stayed from friday to monday at the hotel for the marathon - room included breakfast. Had a nice view looking over the canal. Staff were very helpful and always available for questions at all times. Room was very clean and standard ibis style with the funny bathroom. Very happy with the room and the hotel.

The only slight negative is with the noise coming from other rooms. if you a light sleeper this may cause a problem as with the doors closing and other noises it can be a bit unsettling.

Breakfast was a nice buffet, lots of selection and pleased it was included in the room price.

location wise, its fine, maybe 20 mins from central station, we wanted to rest our legs for the marathon so took the tram and metro quite a lot - all very convienent.

Definitely would stay there again and would be happy to recommend.

Here's the deal, when something bad happens on your vacation, it taints your trip. It's just human nature. That being said, this Ibis hotel was what it should be: clean, cookie-cutter, sterile and characterless. We stayed there for my parents who can't handle the steep Amsterdam stairs and needed a lift. Otherwise, these hotels are too characterless for us. So, for what you expect, you get.

Now, to the theft. While my wife and mother were standing inside by the entrance to the lobby a man came in and distracted them and took our backpack. A chambermaid saw the whole thing, including the man RUNNING from the hotel, and said nothing. She only said something when we asked around loudly if anyone saw our bag. She said she saw someone run and went after them, a lie. A lie because she also said she didn't say anything to anyone because wasn't sure if it was theft. She pointed me to where the people ran. Suffice it to say, the bag is gone.

She never told any other staff. We went to the staff and said something happened. They pointed my distraught wife to the police. They did not call the police or walk with her there. It was only at the end of the block, but she was very upset. The manager did talk with us, but offered pathetic, fake sympathy. She even disclosed that this "hasn't happened for a long time." They have cameras in the lobby, but they only face the front desk, not the door. Pathetic.

The police did arrive and were noticeably upset and disappointed with the manager and staff for doing nothing to assist us. So, if you think you are getting a sterile, safe place to stay, you are wrong. We have stayed in Amsterdam before and felt safer in the cheaper hotels. This cookie-cutter hotel has cut costs on security and has not customer service to speak of. Do not stay here. If you need to do business, and need cookie cutter, find another standard hotel. If you are a normal tourist, find a place with more dirt on the walls, you will enjoy it more.

Oh, and one more thing. The front desk said that the cheapest nearby parking was 30E per day. Lies. Park at a Park-Ride for 6E day and get up to 5 tram tickets (there and back) included. I am sure the hotel gets a cut form the parking place nearby.

A lovely hotel, about 15 min walk from the center, very clean, friendly staff. The room was small but comfortable, the bath small as well but very well organised. Half of the rooms have a view over a canal (so make sure to ask for one of these rooms). The only downside seems to be the price of the breakfast (15 euro/person); and maybe the fact that you can only have sandwiches for lunch at the hotel restaurant. Also, the towels had a funny smell. Bur, all in all, a lovely hotel.
