The Hotel is a stone throw from Amstel Station. This means your about 10 min from the city centre so easy to get into town but also far from the city noise. I would advise when you arrive to buy travel card , this can be used on the metro, trams and buses and ranges from 7.50 (24 hrs)- 15 (72 hrs) Euros. The Metro runs till 12 or 1 depending, after that you can catch a taxi from the city centre which will usually cost about 20 Euros. The hotel has a very business professional vibe to it, everything is sleek, clean and well presented. The lobby is large with 2 checks -in desks; the staffs are professional and very helpful if you need any tourist information. The rooms are spacious with LCD TV, safe, toilettes and best of all a fridge! (There is a large supermarket 10 min walk up the street) Everything was very clean and the furnishings were very standard for a large hotel. My only complaints would be that the beds were pretty hard, some people like that but I was not a fan. Also there is construction going on outside the hotel so there can be noise sometimes but not really that bad. There also were no hair dryers in the room which was a bit of an inconvenience. Overall great value for money and good location, would return.

Thanks for everything. We had a great time in your hotel.
We were very pleased with the service and the hotel staff.
The bikes we have utilized well and the price was ok.
The rooms were always clean, and despite the hard mattress we slept well.
At our next visit Amsterdam we will definitely book in your hotel again.

The rooms are very clean, the staff is very nice. On booking the should make it more clear that the smoking is not allowed At the hotel at all. The location of the hotel is wonderful, next to amstel sation that is a big station, very easy to get everywhere. There Is also a great view, at least from the room that we were staying in.

We stayed at this hotel for a week in August 2012. The hotel is located 5 minutes walk away from Amstel railway station. We travelled to the hotel from Schiphol airport using the regional train to Amsterdam Centraal station, and then taking the Metro to the hotel. Although the Casa 400 isn’t in the centre of Amsterdam it is only about 7 minutes away on the Metro and the trains run very often – about every 4 or 5 minutes. We found it to be very convenient and the Metro was very easy to use once we realised you have to check in and out through the gates marked ‘Metro’ and not the ones marked ‘Train’, otherwise you get trapped in at the other end and it won’t let you through the barriers!

Check in at the hotel was very easy and quick for us. However, lots of times we passed the reception and there were lots of people waiting. The queue didn’t seem very organised by the hotel either. Be aware that there is a 5% city tax (that all Amsterdam hotels charge) which wasn’t included in our pre-booking and we had to pay upon arrival. Our room was very basic, but a good size, bright and appeared clean (although the carpet could have done with a good hoover as when we reached onto the floor to pick up a dropped remote control our hands were dirty and we found a hair grip). The beds weren’t particularly comfortable, but weren’t bad enough to ruin our night’s sleep.

The room contained a safe, large enough to hold a 17” laptop and also a fridge which meant that we could buy drinks and food and keep them cool. We took a travel kettle with us and the Amstel railway station close by has a small Albert Heijn store from which we were able to buy fresh milk. The television could receive BBC1,BBC2 and BBC3 and BBC World News, although these weren’t always reliable and the picture disappeared for a few days in the middle of our stay! The bathroom contained a shower (which was nothing special) and a large sink and toilet. One day during our stay the bin in our room wasn’t emptied, but this was sorted immediately after a quick call to reception who sent a cleaner up.

The WiFi is free and varied between being fast and slow depending on the time of the day. The hotel offer a service where you can prebuy tickets to certain Amsterdam museums at reception. Unfortunately this was unavailable when we were there as the receptionist was unable to access the system. However, because of the free wifi that is available in the hotel, we were able to book our own tickets online and email them to reception. They promptly printed these out for us, which meant that we were able to save over an hour queuing at the Van Gogh museum and the Anne Frank house!

There is a room on each floor which has an iron available for people to use. There are no hairdryers provided, but you can borrow one from reception. There is some building work going on close to the hotel at the moment, but ear plugs are available for free at reception. In our experience though, the noise was nothing at all to worry about! There is an ice dispenser available for free on some of the floors of the hotel. There are 4 lifts in the hotel, but this didn’t seem enough at busy times of day as often the lifts took a long time to arrive or were full when they did!

As mentioned earlier, the hotel is situated close to Amstel station, which means you can take the Metro straight into the centre. In addition, the Number 12 tram also stops at the station – this means you can be at the Museum Quarter in 15 minutes. The location was perfect for us, as it was away from the hustle and bustle of the centre, but close enough to be able to get swiftly to the places we wanted to on the Metro and Tram.

There is an expensive restaurant on the ground floor and a bar on the first floor which serves simple snacks and meals. We didn’t try out either option, but they seemed busy each time we passed.

Overall, we were impressed by the Casa 400 and would definitely consider staying here again.

Really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were very helpful when we arrived giving us a map and explaining how to get to the train station and which lines to use, the hotel is not in the heart of Amsterdam but its an easy commute on the metro. Room was new and modern and was their fore in very good condition, excellent bed and a good bath room made this a pleasant stay, would stay here again and recommend to others.

The hotel is new and modern. Few options for eating and shopping are found in the area, but the hotel is situated just a short walk away from the Amstel station, which has a metro line running to the city center at a high frequency almost at all hours of the day.

Staff was extremely helpful and was even willing to print out documents we e-mailed to the front desk.

I thought the EUR15 breakfast deal was a little pricy, so we preferred buying some groceries at the Albert Heijn on Wibautstraat instead, which is just one stop north on the Metro.

Despite these small shortcomings, I recommend the Hotel Casa 400 and would definitely return.

I only have good things to say about the Hotel Casa 400. I stayed there 4 nights with my daughter and found the hotel to be remarkably clean and modern. The staff were unbelievably helpful with any questions we had.

More specifics: the room was a little bigger than we thought it would be. There was a large table to lay out your suitcase(s) and other items by the window. Our room fit two twin beds comfortably. There was a very nice closet with a safe. The bathroom was much larger than we expected and very modern. Overall the room was very modern as if built from scratch by Ikea. Very stylish and modern.

We did not get the breakfast so I cannot comment. The restaurant was very nice and chic. The food was reasonably priced and tasted very good.

Were there any downsides to the hotel? The only possible downside was that it was a bit of a walk from the hotel to the train/subway station (Amsterdam Amstel). My daughter and I got used to the walk and enjoyed it after a while. Once you arrive at the station you can get a quick hot breakfast and take a 10 minute train to Amsterdam Centraal where you can take a tram to wherever your destination us. Alternatively, we learned that a tram rode by the station and that was probably the better solution. If you stay in Amsterdam for 3 days or more I recommend getting the 3 day pass for the public transportation. Don't fuss with buying a ticket for each ride; too complicated. Some have complained about the distance from the hotel to the station but we didn't find an issue with it.

The area, though remote, seemed very clean. We came home late at night sometimes and never felt unsafe.

I will stay here the next time I go to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: If you are touring central Amsterdam you will have to take a train in to the city every day. This di...
