The hotel isn't as bad as the majority of reviews make out! The hotel rooms are small but not in comparison to other Amsterdam hotels. Our room had tea/coffee facilities, a modern(ish) bathroom, air conditioning and a TV. The room was cleaned daily and was perfect for what we needed i.e. a place to sleep after exploring Amsterdam. The hotel had free wi-fi in the lobby (just ask for the password from reception) and the staff were all nice. The only problem we had was the buzzing sound in our room every time someone on another floor called the lift. This carried on throughout the night and woke us up at 5am one night! It wasnt noticable during the day but was very annoying throughout the night.
The hotel is in a perfect location - you can get the train from the airport to Amsterdam and the hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from central station. It's also a stones throw to "The Grasshopper" coffee shop and a 5 minute walk to Dam square.
Don't spend all your time in the centre of Amsterdam (Dam Square) - there are some lovely neighbourhoods to explore!
The hotel was convenient to Dam Square and the train station and was a good value for our needs. We needed one room for two adults and two children...the hotel delivered on this need, but it fell short in other areas. The room was hot (top floor) and there was no AC. The bathroom had mildew on the ceiling (not a little, but a large patch). As others have mentioned, the room décor is dated. We had a hard time getting our cell phones to work in the room and they only seemed to work best in certain spots in the lobby. Staff were kind and courteous.
If you are looking for a cheap, convenient hotel for a couple of days in Amsterdam, this is the place. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from the train station, and right in the heart of the bars, restaurants and other delights Amsterdam has to offer. However, if you like to sleep late, be aware the clock tower in the church across the street starts chiming at 8am and every 15 minutes thereafter - they do shut it off at night.
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, it was the worst experience ever. They gave us a very small room with no air conditioner not even a window, as the room was in the basement it was so hot and humid. The stuff are rude and never help u in any thing. U have to take ur own luagage and everything else... And to end the story we saw mice in the lobby of the hotel. Nightmare. They ruined our vacation. The only good thing about it is the location.
