I give it 5/5 because although it isn't luxury, it doesn't profess to be and there's nothing at all wrong with it. We went for a hen do and it was perfect for that. The four bed room we had was massive. There was no view, & really steep stairs, it's a good job there was a lift to take luggage up! Can't remember exactly what we paid, maybe around £70 for the night? It's easy to find once you know where it is- just head for The Grasshopper from Centraal Station and it's just past that (go straight ahead from station drop off point for coaches and head a bit left! Past the canal cruises.). Check in was easy- don't forget change to pay the city tax. There is a locked luggage area which is free (only thing is- everyone in the hotel can have access to this area so it's not completely secure). Friendly enough staff.

We stayed for 2 nights in April 2014 and found this hotel had the basic requirements for a stay in the heart of town.

The bed was not as comfortable as we would have liked and the room was quite small for two adults with 4 small pieces of luggage. The room we had had a strange arrangement where we had to climb up 3 steep steps to reach the bathroom. It was very awkward and quite slippery to negotiate.

It would have been very hot had we stayed there in summer as it was quite stuffy even on the cool spring days we encountered.

The location was the best aspect of this hotel closely followed by the extremely helpful staff. After our horrible experience in a London hotel, there people were angels in comparison.

It was quite noisy at night with every noise accentuated when people passed the room and creaked the floorboards. It seemed that the walls weren't very well insulated as all noises could be heard.

There was a good variety of choices for breakfast so no need to eat out.

Read the other reviews about room choices and ask what sort of room you are being given so that you can make your own selection.

for about £125 per night i was expecting a decent level but was disappointed, our sheets were stained and the room was generally run down and dirty.
the hotel is in a dirty street with no outlook backing on to the former stock exchange next to hostels and internet cafes.
the only positive thing is the staff were great and very helpful and you are in the heart of amsterdam near the damrack and dam square.

Room Tip: some rooms have been refurbished so you might be lucky as for one of them

Ok for one night stay. All basic and clean. Paying for the location, would prefer different hotel for longer stays, rooms are very small. There is no free wifi in the rooms but as in the other big city hotels. Dont keep your expectations high but the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Reccommend for its location, cleanliness and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Rooms are quieter on the upper floors.

Tulip Inn is only minutes from Central Station and Dam Square. We had only a 5 minute walk to meet our canal cruise. Staff were great, volunteered to book transportation to the airport for us. Hotel was lovely and clean, just what we needed.

Room Tip: We were 3 ladies travelling together and they had a large room with 3 single beds. Perfect!

After staying at several hotels in Amsterdam I decided that the tulip Inn was great value. Although not fancy it is friendly, clean and superbly located. I have already recommended it to several friends.
