“Great hospitality!”
Reviewed 23 September 2011

The hotel is very central, walking distance from everywhere. Very clean rooms and a great hospitality from the moment you get in the hotel until you leave. Very friendly personnel. Lovely stay...
The personnel is always trying to help you. Whatever you ask, they always try to find an easy way for you. It's been a pleasure to stay in this hotel and definitely will go back!

The title says it all except the Nadia was also reasonably priced and location, location, location.. Expect a small clean hotel - rooms are very small and the bathrooms the smallest I have experienced in a hotel. Its up a flight of steps but the friendly staff there will help with your luggage if requested. If you are expecting a large luxurious American style hotel with all the trimmings- this is not what the Nadia is. When we travel to Amsterdam again we intend to stay at the Nadia and look forward to all it does offer - and the great local style breakfast.

My wife and I stayed for four nights at this hotel. The location is wonderful-three blocks from the Dam Square and about eight blocks from Central Station. Tram stops are within two to three blocks depending on which ones you take (suggest getting a free tram, bus map from a conductor and you will have all the info you need regarding public transportation routes). The rooms are small and the stairs are formidable but those may be characteristics of many properties in this city. The room was clean and the staff was maybe the most accomodating of any we have ever encountered. Every person seemed to genuinely care about our experience and the hotel did everything it could possibly do to enhance our stay. I bought a map at the Visitors Bureau at Central Station for 2.5 Euro upon arrival to the city and was given materials at the hotel that included a map that was just as good as the one I had purchased-2.5 Euro wasted. They helped with luggage, asisted with directions, placed flowers in the room, had wonderful candy out every day. They changed our room to a lower location when we arrived and saw that my wife was having walking problems because of an injury to her leg-and we didn't even ask. The lower room location was a big help and our view of the canal was just a good. If city noise at night/early a.m. is a problem you may want a secluded property without traffic noise or church bells but that may be due to our room location (with a view of the canal-which we would do again). The cost was very reasonable for a city that is somewhat expensive. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The staff of the hotel Nadia were wonderful and extremely helpfull. The stairs to our room 302 on the second floor can only be reached by going up 36 steep steps spiraling upwards. We did not have to carry up our bags or bring them down and as both my wife and i are about 60 would not have been able to do so. The double room we had was so small that it defies description. We had a separate bathroom with a shower, basin and a toilet but you cannot close the bathroom door when you use the toilet as it is blocked by your knees. We therefore spend as little time as possible at the Hotel as Amsterdam is a place that requires to be explored and the local inhabitants live their lives in what seems to be a very casual and carefree manner mainly by riding around on bicycles. We loved the people of Amsterdam for it and the dimensions of the room at the Hotel is compensated for by its proximity to all the good sights.

Room Tip: Keep saying "size does not matter"

Old Hotel building (as most are in Amsterdam central) with interesting shaped rooms and steep stairs. No air conditioning (not really needed) or elevator . Note that the street they are on changes name after the first canal. When you get off of tram at the recommended stop go back toward the center of town

Absolutely wonderful owner and staff, Went out of way to help - Bought tickets online for and had trouble printing. Owner went way out of his way to help. Offered to change our room without us asking - we didn't - we were nested already. Breakfast was very nice

Been to amsterdam a couple of time before and only had one must do - the National Museum (Rijksmuseum). What they had there was great - but it was a very limited selection.

Train to and from airport was no sweat. Watch out for new tram tickets. You buy by the hour (unless you want a day pass - which I would reccomend a serious look). We spent about 12$ for a 10 minute ride. We did not know it expired after an hour. A local said they just changed the system and they weren't happy with it either
