I have just returned from my third visit to Amsterdam this year and stayed at Hotel Nadia. As other reviews reflect, the location is perfect and the Hotel staff are very accommodating. I always stay at Hotel Nadia because you know you are safe there. The complimentary breakfast and tea/coffee making facilities and fridge in the room are very useful as it can be expensive to eat out in the cafes and bars (local supermarket 5 minute walk away). I would recommend Hotel Nadia to others and will continue to go back again and again. Great value for money

If you are young, not more than 1,80m tall and would like to stay in a dutch gallion with many steep steps to your room stay at Nadia Hotel.
Located near to city center, rooms are clean, staff is pro and helpful.

Room Tip: Take a room with the street view, a bit louder but not claustrofobic.

My wife and I spent eight days in Nadia Hotel in mid July. And in spite of the fact that we were not lucky with the weather, these were eight happy days. To certain extent this was due to outstanding hospitality of Nadia Hotel's stuff. Everybody from the manager to the cleaning lady in the breakfast room went out of their way to help.
About the hotel itself. Location of the hotel is the best you can think of. It is five minutes walk to Dam Square, and ten minutes walk (5 minutes by tram) to the Central Station. Anne Frank house and Canal Boat Tours station are just across the road. The hotel is small and modest, but the price/quality ratio is definitely in favor of this hotel. Rooms are not big, but you have everything you need: a good shower with hair and body gel, a hairdryer, a free safe, a small fridge and a water-cooker with free tea and coffee bags. We had a room with a balcony and a nice view on the canal and the high tower of the West Church with a clock plying every half an hour.
On the downside: there is no elevator in the hotel, and the steps are rather steep. Though you do not need to bother about your luggage (the staff takes care of it), you still have to go up and down at least once a day. So for some people this might be a burden. But if you look at this as at a local color and part of the hotel's personal character, it's all right. We lived on the top floor, and though I've celebrated my 67th birthday in this hotel, I managed OK.
The breakfast room is small, and if all boarders come at once it could be crowded. But the view on the canal has compensated this inconvenience. You should not expect a big breakfast there, but it was enough to survive till lunch: you can get orange juice, yogurt, very tasty bread and cheese, butter, excellent croissants, jams and honey, very good strong coffee, tea, milk and cream. So no chance to die from hunger.
To conclude: this is a nice small family type hotel with a real character and charm of its own. If you like chain-type hotels which all look alike all over the world this is not a place for you to stay. Try Krasnopolsky Hotel then, where it'll take you five minutes to get from your bed to the bathroom. But if you like to feel that you are in Amsterdam and remember you stay for many years on, then I would recommend it to everybody who comes to explore Amsterdam and other cities of this beautiful country.

Overall, this hotel was fine to stay in. We didn't love it, but didn't hate it. Just a very average European hotel. The location was good, as far as seeing the attractions in Amsterdam. It was across the street from the Anne Frank House, steps away from Canal Boat Tours and Paddle boats, and a few minute walk to other parts of the city.

On the down side, as most have mentioned, the stairs going up to the hotel were very steep and truly unsafe especially if you were carrying luggage. When we arrived the lady at the reception stuck her head through the window upstairs and told us to come up. I guess at that particular minute there wasn't anyone available to help with our luggage. Our room was on the 3rd floor, so we had to climb yet another steep stairway to get to it. We were in the family room, with 4 beds. The beds were very narrow, and some of our sheets/comforters had cigarette burn holes in them. Clearly the housekeeping staff doesn't care about it, since they continue to put them on the beds and they are obviously noticeable. As much as the location of the hotel was good for sightseeing, it was not good for sleeping! Our room faced the front with a nice view...but we didn't sleep well. It was a very noisy, crowded area that is always full of people. The bus passes and stops right outside the hotel, and the church bells are constantly going off. We aren't sure if other room locations would have been better, but this one was not ideal. The bathroom made cruise ship bathrooms feel big! The shower was in the same room as the toilet and the water from the shower filled the entire area since there was just a flimsy curtain. We had to sop up the water with towels after every shower, or else the next person who had to use the toilet would have slipped and fell, not to mention gotten wet. The design was very strange.

The breakfast room left a lot to be desired with us. The selections were very minimal and the room tiny. You almost couldn't sit back to back with another person, particularly if they were pushed away a little from their table. It was not relaxing for us at all. The morning we left, we were waiting for a taxi and the guy at the reception desk (who was extremely pushy) kept telling us to wait in the breakfast room. We went in there with our backpacks and were told we couldn't bring them in there, to leave them at reception. There wasn't any room at reception since there were other bags there. They expected us to leave our bags in the hotel hallway, pretty much unwatched. Sorry, not comfortable with that. When we declined the breakfast room and wanted to wait outside, we were told that it was raining and there was not a place to stand and not get wet. When we went outside, it was perfectly covered. Turns out, it was the because the receptionist had called his buddy to take us to the airport and he didn't want us using another taxi on the street. Can we say "kick back"?

The last thing that really turned us off was the cigarette smoke smell. We don't know who was smoking or where they were smoking, but the smell drifted into our room. Another reviewer mentioned it was possibly the hotel staff smoking behind the reception desk. If that is the case, they should be made to walk down their steep stairs and smoke outside. It is after all a "non-smoking" hotel.

We would likely choose another hotel for our next visit to Amsterdam.

We have just come back from Amsterdam and stayed in Nadia Hotel for 3 nights. It is right in center of Amsterdam, with Anne Frank museum across the road. Hop on and Hop off bus and boat stops are also nearby. The staff were extremely helpful, starting from taking our bags upstairs, giving us free drinks on arrival, as well as giving me free plasters for two days! Rooms are tiny, but very clean and comfortable. For the price it was absolute bargain! And if you do stay try Sarah's Pancakes next door, they were delicious! It was a great break.
