“Comfortable stay, a home from home!”
Reviewed 9 February 2013

As with every hotel I have stayed in before in this great city, the stairs are very steep. This is not a criticism as I like to stay in authentic places when I stay away. If you like grand, globally synchronised decor on a commercial scale this is not the place for you, if you like clean, comfortable authenticity then the Nadia should be top of your list. Space is well utilised as our double room was a cosy canal view room with a desk down one side and a TV on a higher shelf, along with the usual tea/coffee and kettle, fridge and safe, we were pretty much provided with everything we needed. The en suite shower and toilet were basic but clean, modern enough and served their purpose. My one criticism would be the angle of the not very powerful shower. An inch or two lower would make it far easier to shower but saying that it didn't cause enough of an issue that you couldn't actually shower, I would NOT let this deter me from staying at this hotel again.

The staff are some of the friendliest and helpful I have ever encountered, everytime I asked for a cold can of coke from the fridge they said "no charge, it's no charge coke day!!"

The breakfast was a sufficient continental breakfast consisting of croissant, toast and rolls of different varieties, along with a choice of jams. I looked forward to sitting in the breakfast room each morning looking out across the canal or loosing myself in the scenic dvd played on the flatscreen whilst you eat.

To conclude, the Nadia provides at taste of Amsterdam from a comfortable, clean and cosy base where you are well looked after. The bonus being you are only 3/4 minutes walk from Dam square!

Picked this hotel purely based on TA reviews, so I sort of new what to expect.
Yes the stairs are steep, no problems, they carry your bags for you. But the rooms, oh my, that is what you call small and very basic. More so than I expected. And also very warm even in Feb, with the heating turned off. They were clean though and the bed was pretty comfortable. However, I could not spend any more time there than absolutely necessary, as it made me claustrophobic. To be fair we did ask for a balcony room, which they very kindly accommodated, so I don't know if any of the other rooms are any bigger.
The service was very good and I liked the breakfast room.
Be assured though that no matter what the reviews say this is only a 2 star hotel, which I thought was fair value. Would we return, no not for us, but if you are on a budget, and you are not above average size, then you may find it suitable.

This is situated in an ideal location very bohemian, with cool bars etc. The hotel is very welcoming and they gave us a balcony room on the house! Which was very appreciated - as we had only expected a double. Although the rooms are small and reminiscent of a cabin on a boat- they are clean and warm, and have everything you need. The breakfast was better than I expected, and it has everything you need- just don't expect eggs and bacon. I was very impressed by this Hotel and I'm definitely thinking about staying there again- staff were very hospitable and helpful.

Hotel nadia is a great place to stay in amsterdam - within minutes of walking to city centre and not far (by tram or walking) from many other city sights. Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. Bathroom quite small, I stayed by myself so it was fine for 1 (small!) person, room was big enough for a short stay. Coffee and tea supplied in bedroom - big winner. Breakfast also included, free wifi and tv in rooms. Very much enjoyed staying in this interesting hotel!

Stayed in single room for 2 nights, 1 person.

On arrival a member carried our cases up the steep stairs which was a relief as they are steep! On check in we were given a complimentary bottle of water and as we were early were asked to wait in the breakfast room for 10 minutes. We had a twin room with a balcony at the front of the hotel and although you could hear the trams roll passed it was not a problem. The room was small and cosy but not cramped. The suitcases could not be left out but again that was not an issue. We did have a problem with a leaking toilet cistern but after unpacking we reported it to reception and by the time we had got back from a bit of sight-seeing it had been fixed. The continental breakfast was fine but we didn't realise until the last morning that the staff would make you toast if asked. On check out our suit cases were locked away so we could make the most of the last day without worrying about them. Overall a nice, well located hotel with friendly staff.

We booked 4 nights at Hotel Nadia but due to bad weather we wanted to arrive a night early. Hotel Nadia was very accommodating, even at the last minute. As other reviewers say, the rooms are small but the shelving and closet in the room made it easy to unpack and kept the room from feeling cluttered. We had a beautiful view of Wester Kerk and the canal (room 311). Breakfast was very basic but was enough to get us started each day. The hotel is a close walk to Anne Frank House and Dam; at least two tram lines are right outside the hotel, which made getting around Amsterdam a breeze. The welcome flowers were a nice touch. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. As others have said, the bathrooms are small. There is no real division between the shower and the rest of the bathroom, just a shower curtain so water splashed out. It was nothing an extra towel on the floor couldn't fix. Staff was on-hand to help bring luggage in and out of the hotel, so the stairs weren't a problem. Would recommend to others who are looking for a basic hotel in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: room 311 had a great canal view.
