We stayed at the Hotel Nadia twice during our European vacation. Both times we were impressed with the staff and accommodations. Our initial visit was only for a couple of days, but upon check in, our bags were carried up the steep (but not as bad as you think) stairs to our room. We were also presented with a free drink and maps of the city at check in. Our room was small but cosy, with a clean bathroom, starched sheets and a complimentary flower arrangement. We even had a balcony with a view of the street and Westerkerk. The location of the hotel could not have been better, with Dam square a few blocks away, and even the train station within walking distance. Overall, I'd say that Hotel Nadia is hands down one of the best places to stay in Amsterdam, based on price, amenities, cleanliness and location in Amsterdam. We loved the fact that there is both FREE WIFI and BREAKFAST at this hotel- seemingly a rarity in Europe. The staff go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable while enjoying the beautiful city of Amsterdam. We will surely be returning there again, and I advise others to do the same. Thanks Hotel Nadia!!!!

We stayed here on a family weekend break, on a budget. We found the hotel on Trip Advisor so we knew to expect steep stairs and small rooms! As other reviews have said, the rooms though small had everything you needed, including very powerful fans to give a nice breeze on a warm night. The staff lived up to their reputation from other reviews, they were friendly and helpful. We had one or two problems with one of our rooms - shower would not drain properly, and boiling the kettle shorted the fuse but both problems were fixed immediately and efficiently - no waiting around for staff to come and see to it. Good tip - you get the best deal if you pay up front in cash - also helps you budget for your stay we found. The hotel is in a great location - not only just round the corner from the Anne Frank House, but also close to the pedalo rental place. If you haven't tried it, do, if you have nice weather. You get a really good view of the canals, can go down little canals that the big tours can't get through, and can take your time. Probably better on a weekday rather than a weekend, as traffic on the canal gets busy on the weekend and you can spend a lot of time avoiding the big boats.
If you don't want to walk to the museums (though they are only about 20 minutes if you take the direct route along the canal) you can get a tram. We also enjoyed the proximity to Jordaan, with all the little restaurants and bars, and pleasant atmosphere in the evening.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Nadia for 2 nights in March. Our main criteria for choosing the hotel, based on the reviews we read, were the relatively inexpensive price, and the access to the tram from the train station and airport. It is right off the #15,
(and possibly #13) tram line, very easily accessed if you are hauling luggage around. It is also only about 4 blocks from the red light district, and even closer to the Anne Frank house, so very conveniently located. The Van Gogh museum is a bit further away. The hotel itself is very unique, and quaint, a bit quirky even. When entering through the front door, first you have to ring the bell and they will buzz you in. Then you scale approximately 40 narrow stairs straight up, which we had no problem with, it was kinda fun, or funny, but I could see an issue for elderly or handicapped guests. They may have accommodations to help if needed, but before staying, you might want to check that out. Amsterdam, in general, doesn't seem very handicap accessible, so be prepared. The staff was very friendly to us, although we didn't really have any special requests, and they did have flowers for us in the room upon arrival. They gave us a quadruple room even though we didn't ask for it, which had a double bed, and two singles. The room was quite cozy in size, I am wondering what we would have gotten if we only had a double room. The room was not modern by any means, but hey, its in a building probably a couple hundred years old. The bed linens were crisp and clean, very luxurious for this class of hotel, so that was nice. There was some noticeable noise from the locals on the street at night, but we were jetlagged enough that it didn't keep us from sleeping. Breakfast was included in the cost of the room, but wasn't much more than bread products, jelly, and coffee, maybe some juice I cant really remember. In all, I would say Hotel Nadia exceeded my expectations at about $70 US per night, just don't set your expectations for a 4 or 5 star hotel. My reviews tend to carry on so I wont give my review of Amsterdam itself, just watch out for the Dutch, they are friendly enough but always in quite a hurry, and the bicycles are crazy! We did have a great trip, and would love to go back sometime.

We were received by the most friendly staff we could have wished for. All the staff went above and beyond the call of duty for our family and small children. There was a really comfortable and homely feel about the place and we were all greeted by bouquets of fresh florist flowers in our rooms. The stairs are steep but you can leave all luggage at the bottom of the stairs and they are brought up for you. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will certainly stay here on our next trip to Amsterdam.
