Stayed at this 'hotel' 3 times at the old location a bit apprehensive about the new location but it was spot on no problem getting to & from Central Amsterdam. 1 min from central station to the frequent ferry then a 2 min walk, the free minibus service worked spot on.
The rooms are a bit small & basic but clean and tidy, nice bar area & breakfast area also a nice bar/restaurant just outside for a change.

Just come back from a weekend stay in the botel. This hotel is great value for money and in a pretty good location, a free ferry ride away from central station and many tourist attractions, the staff were welcoming and friendly especially the man taking your room number for breakfast he was always jolly and very friendly always putting a smile on our faces! Breakfast was good with a selection of foods from ceral to bacon and sausages , rooms cleaned daily.

Overall brilliant hotel for a short break although of a weekend can be slightly noisy but no problem if your coming in late! Excellent value for money would defo recommend.

We stayaed at the Botel as part of our honeymoon. It would be a great place for a quick weekend stay, but I think we were expecting a bit more.

I think staying on a boat in the harbour was a neat idea, but the hotel itself seems dated and the furniture is pretty old. The restaurant was alright, although it was always SO busy and sometimes hard to find a table.

The staff were amazing, and always so helpful, so that's a definite bonus.

The botel is across the harbour from downtown, but there's a free shuttle-ferry that runs every 15 minutes, so it's ok.

Make sure you get a room on one of the upper floors - we were in the basement and you could hear te noise from the bar/breakfast room.

Room Tip: Get a room on the upper levels to be away from the bar/breakfast room noise

This place is a real find, sure its not the Ritz but its really cheap compared to most of Amsterdams budget options which are noisy, up a steep flight or 2 of stairs & dirty. We loved the fact that you take a little ferry ride to get to it. The rooms are small but clean with all you need for a short stay. Not sure what previous moaners were on(??) but breakfast is really good, you get a view from your cabin, you can sit on deck with a beer and its not on an industrial estate as was mentioned it's on the dock on the north side. I have visited Amsterdam 10 times & this is with out a doubt the best located, best value hotel in the budget range! To get to it you walk to the back of the train station (central) where the ferries go from, turn left and its the last ferry that goes to nsdm werf. You will see the Botel right there.

Room Tip: Get a top floor room on the side that the entrance is so you dont get the sun in the morning.

We are unfortunately staying at the Amstel Botel at the moment. Anyone that says this place is nice, roomy, clean, family friendly or is at a 3 star hotel level, is still suffering from the affects of their visit into the city centers specialty shops. The Botel itself is located in an industrial estate, there are big barges, boats, you name it's in the water (and they make noise) or there is a factory near by. There are no real facilities on the Botel, there is a good deal where you get a free ferry ride (which is about 10mins) to the city centre that runs every half an hour, however one would imagine they need to offer this service just to get people over here. Buffet breakfast, worst selection I have seen in a long time, no room to even move around the buffet station. The rooms themselves..... Where to begin, small, old, they are clean.... to a degree. There is rust around the doors, mould on the windows, the bathroom... Well you spin around and that's it, trying to even use the toilet is a task! The shower is soooo tiny, you wouldn't want to be overweight or too tall!!! Water goes everywhere, the shower curtain.... I don't even want to know what's on it. This Botel has been riddled with tour groups from top deck and contiki, and that's the clientele that it suits, young people between the ages of 18 - 24 who intend on being off their face one way or another because they won't notice the poor conditions they are staying in, it may also suit if you are on super tight budget. But even then, this place is still overpriced for the poor quality accommodation you get, spend a little extra please for your own sake and go and stay at the ibis or somewhere else, Anywhere but the Amstel Botel!!

Room Tip: Don't stay here!!!

I travelled as a group of four girls who visited amsterdam for a couple of days. The Amstel Botel is a lovely and unusual choice. Its worth staying in especially if your after a clean, value for money bed for the night. Yes rooms are on the small side but who spends all their time in the room?. The Botel is a 10min ferry Journey (free) from the city centre which runs from the fourth pier (NDSM destination name) located next to the central station. These run every 15mins from approx 6am-midnight, out of hours the hotel has its own shuttle service. The Botel has a bar which sells light snack and there are two resturaunts nearby for more substantial meals. The breakfast area was nice and clean, especially where the food is served. The staff we're really nice and helpful too. On a whole, the hotel was clean and I would recommend to others to go esecially if your after a cheap and cheerful stay with a twist.

Room Tip: Nice Waterside views.

Located a short (free) ferry ride from the train station, the Botel is an excellent place to stay. The staff are REALLY friendly and helpful, the "cabins" are cleaned daily and have really comfortable beds and you get a good breakfast - bacon, sausage, egg, beans etc. Although the rooms were smaller than average they had everything you need (except a kettle) and it's not like you would go there to sit in a a room all day anyway!! I would thoroughly recommend anyone on a budget to stay here. And you also get a great view from your room no matter what side of the boat you're on.
