This hotel is at a very nice location . View from the room window is excellent and you can spent the time sitting near your small window . Rooms are very small as well as toilet is to use once for one person only . You must reach to room for night only and I think in Amsterdam if you are here to enjoy than you will reach in your hotel at late night so for a good sleep the rooms are OK , after wake up get breakfast and go again for a ultimate fun in Amsterdam .
This Hotel is on walking distance from Central Train station , Dam square , Red light area , lot of restaurants , night life , happening moments , and just near to Indian restaurant also which is run by the owner of this hotel and have good varieties of veg .
The bad factor of this hotel is that no lift is there to go to upper floors and stairs are also narrow . Any way the hotel staff is cooperative and also help to take your luggage to your room . Breakfast is good enough . Next door is a open sitting bar which is also good to spend time in evening when comes back to your hotel after a whole day fun and walk .
Mr. Vijay the owner of this hotel is a very nice person and always ready to help for anything and can suggest very well about Amsterdam . The climate of Amsterdam is Awesome in May .

Room Tip: Always ask for first floor and canal side window room .

Travelled in June 2014, as a group of five friends. First I want to say few words about location, which is really great. From Amsterdam's central train station, which is most popular way to reach the city centre from the airport, you'll have approximately 10 minutes walk, and that's really great even if you have some heavy bags with you. Hotel is settled in the middle of red light district, right next to the one of the canals. Red light district is usually really noisy, but our room was turned opposite of the street, and despite of poor view, at least we had a peaceful stay, when we were at the hotel of course. Furthermore, Dam square is also within about 10 minutes walk, Rembrandt square is 20 minutes walk away. There's nice caffe bar right next to the hotel, one of the few (if not the only) canal cruise station except from those located beside Central station is also 5 minutes walk away... Within 10 minutes walk you'll also find great varieta of fast foods, restaurants, bakeries etc.
Few words about hotel. We had a room for five people, which was really poor, but at least everything was clean, and judging by the smell of varikina when we entered the room, everything was disinfected also :) Wardrobe doors are not in great condition, so it took some effort to open and close it. In the bathroom there's a toilet seat, shower and a sink. There was enough room for all five of us and our bags. The bad thing in the hotel are steep stairs, which are unavoidable if you want to reach the room, and that can be problem, especially if you're woman carryng the bags (i am male, so didn't have this problem). But I'm sure that the staff will help you then. In the middle of the hotel there's an open smoking area, where you can smoke everything.
Breakfast is ok, if you're not too picky, there's a bread, cheese, salami, cereals, coffee and boiled eggs. Breakfast is served till 10, but try to come at least till 9:15, if you don't want to push with other guests.
Staff is friendly, in the hotel you can also buy some cheap wine, beer, toiletries, juices, water etc.
I would recommend the hotel for a group of people looking for fun in Amsterdam, definitely not for a romantic stay or stay with the kids.

Stayed here and the location is perfect for a lads stag do break away. In the middle of the canal ring with plenty to do in walking distance. The bar next door was great for a drink in the sun. Breakfast was basic but filled a hole.

Well, we travel to Amsterdam quite a lot and were attracted to this hotel by a photo which showed it overlooking a canal - thought it would be quaint and romantic. In reality this is a very shabby, down at heel joint in the red light district of Amsterdam. All the furnishings were worn and it desperately needed a full redecoration and refurbishment. Our room did overlook the pretty canal. However, the room was a very strange shape - you entered into a dark corridor with a barely adequate bathroom off. The bed was situated in a very crampt space under the window (with the lovely view). The bed was on the floor and to get in bed or look out the window you had to clamber over it as there was so little room. The whole corridor/room thingy layout had only one light bulb. It was like being in a detention centre (not that I have been in one). The winding staircase up to the room was cluttered with old rubbishy stuff that probably constituted a fire hazard. Downstairs was the dining room. Again this was shabby and quite worn out. The breakfast of breads, cheeses, ham etc was very, very basic. The juice was a horrible, sweet, bright orange liquid. There was an inner courtyard area where various stoners puffed maniacally on their spliffs. Ashtrays overflowing and all quite sordid and depressing.
My advice after this experience - get a hotel a bit further out, the museum district has some nice ones and cheaper. If you want to partake of the delights of naughty Amsterdam, just catch a tram to where you want to go. Avoid this quite nasty doss-hole.

Room Tip: Don't choose any rooms in this establishment. Look for a hotel a bit further out - you get much better quality at a more reasonable rate.
