Prinsengracht Hotel
Ranked #173 of 372 Hotels in Amsterdam
Reviewed 30 March 2012

I have just come back from a two night stay in Amsterdam. I stayed at the Hampshire hotel in Prinsengracht. I wasn't too sure what to expect, but was very surprised. The hotel is lovely in a fantastic location, for walking around Amsterdam. Rooms are small, but more than good enough and the bathroom was spotless. I have stayed in other so called 4 star hotels in Amsterdam and they could not hold a candle to this gem. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would certainly recommend this hotel and I will stay here on my next visit.
This was a business trip , but I would have no problem return to this hotel with my wife. You are within walking distance of the Flower market,Rembrantsplein and the main shopping district.

Room Tip: ask for canal view , it is really nice. There is also a lovely garden to the rear

Stayed in a room overlooking garden for 3 nights. Very peaceful and wonderful large windows looking into the garden. We had requested a triple room and were disappointed to find one bed (though king size) and an armchair that converted into a single bed (not very comfortable), which left little space for luggage. Despite this, we enjoyed our stay at the Prinsengracht. The location is fantastic - great selection of restaurants, bars, cafes within a few minutes walk and close to Rembrandt Square. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The staff are great, very attentive and polite. the location of the hotel is fantastic 5 qminutes walk to Rembrant Square and great resturants.
The room we were in could do with an update, the decor is slightly dated, and it could do with a new mattress, but on the hole, I would recommend this hotel to anyone 100%

Although over reviews of this hotel have praised the view etc
my experience was the opposite
I had a tiny room at the back of the hotel where i could touch both walls with outstretched arms
Room smelt of damp and was very quiet so a good nights sleep but tiny TV and poor quality are my lasting memories of this place

Room Tip: Dont accept a room at the back

Stayed here in the garden annex in October 2011.

No problems whatsoever staff friendly and helpful, rooms clean and good size. Staying in the annex is lovely as its in the garden and nice and quiet. Very useful having wireless Internet.

Best thing about the hotel though is its location - close to everything. We walked most places when it wasn't raining! And staff always happy to book you a taxi if needed! Very picturesque location on one of the many canals.

Would stay here again as it was very reasonably priced - we booked direct through the hotels website.

I stayed at this hotel 2 years ago...& definitely had it in mind when I was going again this year. Clean...friendly staff...decent breakfast...great location. The rooms are a bit pokey...but I'm assuming not too many of the rooms in Europe aren't. Definitely serves its purpose for a solo traveler.

Room Tip: If you're traveling solo, then the standard room with a single bed is better than with a double...
