“Ideal for base with breakfast”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

We were offered 3 rooms to choose one we preferred and had a good break over the Easter holiday. The staff were smiley and helpful. The room clean and warm with safe and fridge and hot showers. The breakfast good choice and plentiful. The location ideal and bike rental very easy opposite. I would recommend the hotel and the restaurant a few doors down the Nes too.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room first - then you can choose one that suits you're needs. We liked low floor...

Stayed for 2 nights - location was perfect. About a 10minute walk to Central station and right on the corner of Dam Square. Very convenient for seeing all of Amsterdam. Room was clean and basic. Had one on the first floor with a view of the square and therefore was a bit nosey. Good to have breakfast in the morning - buffet selection of hot and cold. Staff at reception were very helpful. The hotel was exactly what was required for a city break - not luxury but then didn't spend much time in the room. Would stay again as the location and value are ideal.

Yes, Inspired_phil has got it spot on except it is not dismal and gloomy! Has he not heard of authentic and restored? The style of the decor is probably exactly as it was when it was a theatre built in 1908 in Art Deco style. My room was delightful and had been freshly painted as there were no scuffs and marks. It was spotlessly clean with the best beds ever and a lovely bathroom with good shower. The staff were attentive and efficient. The breakfasts great. The RHO is right in the centre of everything and most sights are walkable although we used the trams a couple of times. Without a doubt I would stay here again and certainly recommend this hotel .

The hotel is clean and adequate for a brief stay in Amsterdam. The rooms are clean, the showers hot and powerful and the beds comfy.

There are so many other great places to stay in this lovely city and the sunny nature of the staff doesn't make up for the dismal and gloomy decor of this tired, old maze of rooms that masquerades as a hotel and not a hostel.

The coffee is pretty good at breakfast - and the bread is fresh....that's probably about it. The tinned fruit salad and peaches and packets of biscuits don't count as breakfast fare for me!

The hotel is quite average but clean and in a super location. The staff were mixed, some highly friendly but some quite curt. The breakfast was plentiful and sets you up for the day ahead. Overall, I would probably stay here again as the location is a winner.

We stayed two nights in the Rho, and would not hesitate to book again. The hotel is so convenient to the train station, literally walk out of station and take road straight in front, 10 minute walk to Dam Square and hotel sign is right there in the corner to see. Reception very friendly and asked if we would like a quiet room, which we did. This was on the 4th floor, (not a problem with the lift). First impression of room was small, but just because it was narrow and long, however as we were only going to be spending minimal time there it was more than adequate, clean and bright with two skylight windows. Fridge and safe in the room. If I had to complain about anything it would be the softness of the bed, both prefer a firm mattress, but a small price to pay. The breakfast was available until 10.30 which meant there was no need to rush down and the food was constantly topped up. Free wi fi available. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends.

We have just visited Amsterdam for a short break and stayed at the RHO hotel, we had a top floor room which included a bath. The hotel is perfectly situated just off of Dam Square. All the staff were extremely helpful including reception, cleaners and breakfast room. The breakfast was good and plentiful and continually topped up giving you both hot and cold options. A very good choice for a few days in Amsterdam. Catching the train from the Airport to Central Station was very easy (4 Euros each way per person), the hotel is then a ten minute walk.

Room Tip: Ask for a fourth floor room at the back of the hotel.
