The only good thing is the location. Don't believe that you can walk to central station in 5 minutes even without luggage. More like 15 minutes with luggage.
No air conditioning except in the hallways

Never again in summer!! This hotel doesn't have air conditioner with a room temperature about 95 degrees or higher!! And also mosquitoes!! Only one little fan for the three of us? Too bad! We tried to beat the heat with open windows but it was worst for the lot of noise in the street. The five more longer nights in a hotel in our lives!! The only pro is the location and for sure the breakfast included. They have to clean the lobby furniture it shows dirty!! The hotel needs urgent renovation!

Good location for all touristy things in Amsterdam with its close proximity to Centraal station. Good street entertainment in dam square directly beside the hotel. Rooms are basic but very clean - please note there is no air conditioning - just a small fan which was totally inadequate during this very hot spell. Do not drink in the majestic across the square when enjoying street entertainment €28 for a beer, a liqueur and sprite.....
Come out of the hotel and turn right and you are immediately in the red light district so be careful if you come here with kids

The real bonus here is the location. Walking distabce to all the main Amsterdam attractions and 5 minutes walking distance from the central station.
Rooms are ok but if you are planning to get some sleep, you'd better bring some pretty good ear plugs!!! You can distinctively hear everything going on in the street, corridors and adjacent rooms. Not really fun to be waken up by drunk, shouting kids at 2 a.m.
Other major issue: the air conditioning. You can find it in all hotel areas except for one: THE ROOMS. The rooms get so hot during the day that it is impossible to sleep without turning your bed into a swimming pool (of sweat).
Housekeeping was pretty basic. They only renewed the towels and bathroom amenities. The beds were not made.

So averall pretty avarage, but I will certainly not come back, nore recommend it.

Room Tip: Bring hear plugs. All rooms are very poorly sound isolated. You can hear everything through the wall...

Just nearing the end of my umpteenth stay at the Rho, I have lost count of how many stays, must be about 20 or more by now...
Such a great location (walkable from the railway station with its quick connection to the airport), such lovely staff (so many people greeted me by name), impressively clean room, very quiet despite the very central location, the buffet breakfast continues to be all one could want, great value for such a location and the benefits of being here.... Very fast and reliable wifi at no extra cost...
The reception staff are so helpful. Huib with his extraordinary proficiency in so many languages is the real star, but all his colleagues are truly delightful and 'go the extra mile' to assist guests.
I am leads booked for two future stays here!

Room Tip: If you want a bathtub rather than a shower, ask; some rooms have better wifi access than others, aga...

This was my second stay in Amsterdam and once again the hotel was great
Accomdation was clean comfortable , good size room with great windows letting in light
We had a quiet corner room on the top floor but there was a lift
Breakfast buffet was plentiful and had all the basics and some hot food too so great value
Reception staff were very helpful
Trips sold at front desk were same price everywhere so easier to book with hotel
Will be back next time in Amsterdam

Room Tip: Top floor corner room

We visit Amsterdam on average once a year, and have used the Rho Hotel for the last 20 years or so.

The location is perfect: by Dam square, it's very convenient for getting about, and we find the University district which is very near very pleasant for walking about in the evenings and with lots of nice restaurants and bars.

The Art Nouveau reception of the hotel is stunning, and worth seeing. We find the rooms pleasant, and the recent refurbishments are a welcome change.

Housekeeping is the Rho's weak point however. Our stay was for five nights and the sheets in our bed were not changed once. Cleaning is very basic, and it's very clear that housekeeping is not one of the hotel's priorities. A shame.
