We stayed here for 3 nights and we picked it for the location, very close to the main train station, in a nice quiet location. That's all you get pretty much. The décor is quite quirky, we stayed in 208 right at the top. We booked a double room and got 2 single beds pushed together. That wouldn't have been a problem but when the beds move all the time because they're on wheels and you end up with a gap between them it's not that good. I do understand that it makes sense to be able to accommodate guests that ask for a twin or a double room, but in that room there's not enough space to make it a twin because as soon as you move one of the beds you can't get into the shower room because the beds blocks the door. As soon as you get into our room there is a flight of stairs and a light at the top that wasn't working making it a bit difficult to get in. We told the staff the next day but it wasn't fixed in the 3 days we were there, so we had to leave a lamp on all the time, not very cost efficient.

It's not cheap, so make sure you check the prices on their website, they're lower than on other websites.

Room Tip: Don't go for room 208 if you struggle with stairs.

Not impressed with welcome. Came in with luggage told to wait 5 minutes. Had room in separate building had to ask for reception to open it every time I wanted to get to room. No iron even though was told there was one. No hairdryer. No plug sockets by side of bed, really small room. Good location. Really really basic.

Simple and clean hotel in perfect location-right on the corner of the Brouersgracht and the Herrengracht canals. Friendly and helpful staff. We had a room on the top floor overlooking the canals-beautiful views all day and night. Hotel could have used a few amenities like at least coffee/tea in the morning...but the room and the view compensated just fine. Good value.

Room Tip: definitely go for a room on the top floor that overlooks the canals

Hotel currently having renovations so reception in a temporary location. Access to the rooms also not in the usual place. Due to renovations advertised light breakfast with tea and coffee not available. No discount though.

As already pointed out by other reviews, the staircases are very steep. Ok for younger fit people. We got room 209 which was up 3 flights of stairs. Room was nice but small but location was excellent. TV in room had reception problems. Shower room functional.

Upon checking out it would appear they had over booked again as a couple were discussing alternative hotels. Can't be certain of this but looking at previous reviews it something this hotel does.

There is no better place for a hotel in Amsterdam if you intend to visit center and lovely Jordan. It can be easily reached by food from Amsterdam central station. Do not bring your car, leave it in one of the park & ride facilities. In the city you will pay around 24 € a day. regarding the rooms you have to have luck, to get one of the large(r) double rooms with windows and light. Friendly service desk and good coffee :-)

I was in Amsterdam on business. Found this hotel to be in a great location and was a good price. As others have mentioned, the hotel is a short walking distance (10-15 minutes) to the central station and it is located right on the canal.

At the time I arrived, there was work being done on the hotel reception. It is a typical house in Amsterdam - thin, steep staircases, small rooms. Still, the rooms are clean and well decorated: i was impressed with the quality of the bathrooms. I didn't find any of this a problem as I had an overnight bag, mind if you've large luggage it might be more of a struggle. Didn't try the breakfast as I had to be up early - but there are plenty of places that you could eat nearby.

While I found the staff were helpful and the bed comfortable, I had a problem with the room with a lack of hot water: so more of an invigorating shower than I like. I could have also done with knowing that the builders who were working on the building were going to start at 05:45. I now understand this isn't unusual in the city centre but a heads up for guests would have been appreciated.

If you're travelling in March 2014 - might be worth a check.

This hotel is great value for money. The decor is very good for a basic hotel and the location is very central.

I stayed here with my husband last valentines weekend and we had a lovely time due to the location. The downfall is that after a day walking/bike riding around the city, the last thing that we wanted was to hike up the multiple flights of stairs to get to our room.

Room Tip: Room 111 is very high and requires good fitness to get to.
