This is an awesome hotel/B&B by the canals and very near the flower market, in an old house from the 17th century. You really get the feeling that you are staying at somebody else´s home. They only rent two rooms which keeps the sense of privacy. The room we stayed in was big, with own bathroom and shower. We had views to the backyard, and it was very quiet.
The hosts were very nice, and the breakfast was great!

We stayed in this hotel from the 31st of july to the 3rd of august 2008. The location is fantastic - the hotel is situated on a quite canal within a short walking distance of many of Amsterdam's main attractions. Loes and Fritz who run this family owned hotel are lovely, we got a very large room with extremely comfortable beds, the breakfast was nice and Fritz's advise very helpful.
We enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay there again on our next visit to Amsterdam.

We stayed here for 2 nights in November in room 7. The B&B has a fantastic location but I wouldn't recommend bringing a car as the only parking is in a parking station about 15 minutes walk away for 30 Euro per day.

The B&B owners were friendly and pleasant and the house itself is lovely. The room was big, had a nice view over neighbouring gardens, and had a really good shower with lots of hot water. The breakfast was also good and included traditional Dutch bread (which they gave us more of when we asked!).

The only down side of the room for us was that it's not actually a double bed - it was two single beds pushed together - but this is pretty common in Europe.

And the LOCATION!! It is right on a beautiful canal and easy walking distance to everything you will want to see. You really can't beat the location, and that makes it worth the price.

My husband and I stayed here in August and were absolutely delighted with the experience. Loes and Fritz were so nice and hospitable--they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, even inviting us to Loes' birthday party. When I became ill during our stay, Loes personally called a family physician and pleaded to get me in the same day. Our bed was incredibly comfortable, the linens were nice, we had a great view and thought the location was perfect. I wouldn't call the accommodations luxurious; they felt fresh, clean and simple. This was our favorite place to stay on our trip and we'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

To the best of my understanding there are only 2 rooms at this place. We stayed in Room #7 but peeked into Room #3. There is a huge difference between the 2 rooms and there is not a difference in the price of the 2 rooms- which by the way has gone up to 105 euro.

One room is nicely appointed, as is the rest of the house. The other looks like Loes and Frits put all the furniture they wanted to throw out up on the top floor in room 7. Just my opinion.

Breakfast was nice. The location was great but it really stopped there. There are no phones in the rooms or any phones accessible to use in the building which made it rather inconvenient when trying to call a taxi for an early morning departure. I think there is definitely better value at other B&Bs in Amsterdam.

Be warned- No air conditioning and the hot air rises...both rooms are on the 3rd and 4th floors.. Mosquitos are a big problem near the canals in Amsterdam...this didn't make for a pleasant experience either.

We loved our stay at De Leydsche Hof - we traveled with another couple and took two rooms total. Both were gorgeous and spacious, with excellent furnishings and nice bathrooms. The hosts Luce and Fritz were so kind and generous with their time answering our questions and suggesting places to visit, restaurants, etc. It is easily one of the top B&B's I've ever stayed at. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.

p.s. If you are having trouble finding how to contact them you can do a google search and it will pop up, or they are also listed in the Rick Steves guide for Amsterdam.

We were thrilled with our experience at Hotel De Leydsche Hof. First, it is one of the most desirable locations in Amsterdam, on the Leidsegracht canal, near the Herengracht.
It is actually a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel, located in a lovely canal house. Currently (May 2006), they have two B&B rooms available, as the others have been converted into apts., but they may be making more available again. The room we stayed in (Room #3) was large and spacious, with a fireplace and beautifully furnished with antiques. It had large windows looking out onto a huge and gorgeous garden. The other room (Room #5) is a bit smaller but still quite nice (both rooms were 95 Euros incl. breakfast and private bath.) Breakfast is served in a dining room with high ceilings, antiques and marble fireplace. The owners are a lovely professional couple who are perfect hosts.
