Part of a package booking through DFDS sea ways. For the price we paid the hotel was absolutely fine for our one night stay in the city.

Location is brilliant. In the museum district, 2 minute walk from the Leidseplein. 20 minute walk to the centre.

Room and bathroom was clean and tidy, small but as it was only somewhere for us to sleep it was fine.

Small charge for the wifi.

The thing I look forward to most in my hotel stays is breakfast and I'm afraid this was a bit of a shambles. The room was too small/tight and was infrequently restocked.

Would happily stay here again if booking the same package if something was done about the organisation at breakfast.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, was fairly comfortable, pillows could of been better, shower pressure was amazing for a hotel. Breakfast was decent, not fabulous as there wasn't any hot options. Location is great, right near the Rijksmuseum and round the corner from the I am Amsterdam sign, tram line at end of street will take you to centraal station for about 2.80 EURO. Was all around happy, good little place to stay. Steep stairs for those who have access issues, however there is a cute little lift inside. Staff where very friendly and helpful whenever we needed anything.

This hotel is well located and easy to access from the airport by catching a single bus. It is quite well located, close to main attractions, as well as to tram lines and walking distance from the city center. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

What can I say - this hotel was a great find! I was initially concerned about being too far on the fringes, but this turned out to be a wonderful location steps away from the Museum park and an easy 20 minute walk to the center. I highly recommend renting a bike, and if you do everything around Amsterdam is easy access!

This hotel was clean, warm, friendly, and surprisingly comfortable for the price! As a solo traveller the double room was comfortable and perfectly sized - I'd be dubious about having two people in there though. Otherwise, it was a great value for the money and I enjoyed great comfort in the room during a chilly, moderately wet November.

The stairs are very narrow, but the elevator is spacious and functional. My booking included free breakfast, but after taking a look one morning I was underwhelmed and opted for a Dutch pancake out in town.

Overall I was very happy with my experience. The ambiance is cozy with the boutique-hotel library inspired style and the staff were accomodating.

We stayed at this hotel many times when it was The Acro so we were interested to see if it had maintained it's friendliness after it's make-over. We are pleased to say it has. All the rooms are fresher and modern and the lobby is much better too. The breakfast area is much the same and still offers a typical continental breakfast. The joy of this hotel however, is its location. It is situated within easy walking distance of the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Leidseplein and many other attractions, as well as being on frequent tram routes. The Poet is not a luxury hotel but still has lots to offer for short breaks in Amsterdam and we would definitely recommend it to first time as well as frequent visitors to the city.

The plus: Good location. 100m from Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Concertgebouw and tram / buses (direct to schipol airport). The room have a good decoration, despite of its size. Plenty of tv channels (none of them portuguese, thou) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is ok.

The minus: The hotel needs a remodelation, specially the lobby and corridors. The furniture and carpets look very old and dirty. The room also needs some maintenance (footer and window locker broken). The breakfast could have fresh fruit and croissants. The steps are really steep, but that's normal in Amsterdam. The luggage storage is not very safe, it's accessible to anyone who passes in the corridor to the rooms.

In overall, it's a overpriced hotel for 2 stars (135€ for a double room)

Room Tip: Not a room tip. But there's a direct bus to and fro the airport that stops very close to this ho...

A small well run little 2 star a 20 minute light walk from the center of the city, with lots to see on the way. Most impressed as it is only a 2 star. Modern feel to the rooms, clean, tidy and well maintained. Extremely polite helpful staff. Excellent value for money. It's also in a very quiete street. Popular with school parties, who were very well behaved. The nature of Dutch houses means the steep narrow stairs may be a problem for people with poor mobility. All in all a little gem.
