“Met and partly exceeded our expectations”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

This was mine and my boyfriends first trip away together for our anniversary and we couldn't have picked a lovelier little hotel for the price and location.
As it is Dutch it is of course narrow and tall, so the stairs are steep (there IS a lift but it isn't obvious so make sure you ask if you don't see it!) and the room was small but really clean and nicely decorated, as was the bathroom.
There isn't much to the breakfast to be honest but it's enough to keep you going for a little while.
The staff are friendly enough and helpful and there is just overall a nice atmosphere in the hotel.
The actual area that the hotel is in is so lovely to look at! It's also just a street or two from all of the high street designer shops, and there are tram and bus stops a few minutes walk from the hotel.
The Van Gogh museum, Rijksmuseum, Hard Rock Cafe, Leidseplein (plenty of different restaurants to choose from here, as well as bars) are all within easy walking distance of the hotel.

We(me, my partner and another couple) stayed 2 weeks ago for 2 nights. The rooms were fine and comfy, breakfast was good and not really any complaints. If you want somewhere away from the centre and in one of the nicer neighbourhoods of the city, certainly worth a look!

Room Tip: Maybe not 111 or 112, wasnt a problem at all for us but its right next to the baggage storage which...

If you're staying at this hotel the best advice I can give is if your arriving by train into central station just jump on a tram. The number 2 or 5 an get off at the diamond museum. Its the next street over. The hotel itself is a really nice relaxed place to be an I believe good value for money. If you're looking for a nice break Amsterdam is a great place. Go during the week to avoid stag parties

We stayed in the Poet Amsterdam for 3 nights, staff are very helpful, the location is near all important museums, like Van goch, and the Ricks museum, transportation is very easy.
The room is a bit small, but this is Europe, Breakfast was good.

I stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago for a week-end away with 3 friends. I chose it because of the great location and the good reviews. The online photos made it look great but they are very deceiving! It is a great location and on a good point the rooms were very clean, however the rooms were small and the reception area dark and lacking any atmosphere. The breakfast was so disappointing. The table wasn't very clean. And breakfast was served in the basement in a very dark and cramped room. There were no rolls or ontbijt koek which is a very traditional breakfast cake and usually delicious. For the money we paid for room and breakfast it wasn't worth good value!
The steps leading into the hotel were lethal! There were also some very noisy guests staying who were allowed to make as much noise as they liked into the early hours of the morning! I am afraid not a great experience and will not be staying again!

Room Tip: The twin rooms look bigger online then they were

A Good central location. The hotel is on a quiet road, on the nearest corner for the Rijksmuseum, and the Van Gogh museum, is also close by. The room was normal size for hotels in this part of Amsterdam, the beds were narrow, but comfortable. The reception & bar area is good with comfortable seating. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and one could get a drink in the early hours of the morning, "a plus". The breakfast room can be crowded, if you don't get down early. The food was ok for this type of hotel. When visiting Amsterdam in the future, we would stay here again!
