I stayed at the Hotel Rembrandt after a recommendation from a colleague. I had a really nice time. the highlight was the dining room where breakfast was served. What a great setting to start the day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Really good value for money. The location is fab, being next to the trams, the University of Amsterdam, a number of trendy cafes, places to eat and canals. Liked the hotel cat too!!

Loved this quiet, family run hotel on the outskirts of Amsterdam's center. Just 10 minutes walk from Rembrandt Square, a five minute walk from Artis Zoo, close to tram and bus routes without the frenzy and noise of the major squares, yet near local Cafes and a major grocery store, it was perfect.

Room Tip: Room 2 was wonderful, with French doors leading out to a patio and shared garden area. Do not take...

Just got back from a weekend in Dam with my sister and a friend and this was our home for 2 nights.

Very happy with what we got (would look for a room here again), just what we needed. We had a room in the basement (Room 3) at the front - big windows so loads of light, decorated in a very bright green but well considered - this room had 2 single beds that could be pushed together for a double (which was how it was when we arrived), and then it had two sofas that made into very firm and comfy single beds, lovely white linen and we all slept soundly.
The room was big lots of space, lovely little sleeping and living area, there was a TV, kettle and mini bar/fridge, but most of all it was the room with the infrared sauna!!! yes that's right!!, we had seen there was a room with one but didn't think or know we would get it.

The room had an en suite, really good shower, toilet and sink, it also had a little wall hair-dryer. Clean towels every day if you want them (just leave your old ones in the shower) we also got little shampoos & shower gels etc. There was also another toilet just outside the room, which was handy when there is 3 of you.

The breakfast was 10 euros and worth it - typical continental but good quality - nice coffee too! - lovely big room it was in too. There are also plenty of places around it if you want to eat out else where for breakfast.
They do pizza and pasta dishes for lunch/evening meals as room services if you wish.

We got connected the WIFI with no issues, also a phone in the room if needed.

The staff where friendly and warm and very helpful. Lot of tourist info and money off attraction cards in hall at reception, the reception has a nice little space with PC/internet access. We got in Dam early so it was before book in time when we arrived, but they where happy for us to leave our bags so we could go off and come back at check-in time - when we did they had even taken our bags down to our room for us.
When we checked in we got a lovely little hotel handbook with map and info of use - this came in very handy, we also got an explanation as to where we where and how to get to key places, very helpful.

Its in a lovely location, an easy 20/25min walk to dam square or the train station, easy tram (number 9) and metro access too. the zoo is just round the corner and canal taxi's/boats pull in there too that's another mode of transport to consider.

Its in an area of Dam I have never been and I have to say it has a lot to offer, its quite residential around the hotel but lots of nice bars, coffee shops, restaurants etc close by. Its actually much nicer on an evening compared to the chaos of central dam, we loved it.

The hotel cat (Binks) was lovely we became quite attached.

There was families and a variety of ages staying when we stayed - but its certainly a relaxing place.

I am saving the name and will defiantly be checking out its room availability when i go back to Dam again.

I stayed here with my partner for 3 nights, just for a short break in Amsterdam. I chose this hotel as it was one of the only ones available that had en-suite bathrooms - many in the 300-500 euro range have shared bathrooms.

We booked a basic room, which was perfect for us as we were getting up reasonably early and staying out all day, but if we had been planning to spend longer in Amsterdam, I probably would have booked a more expensive room, as the basic one was a little bit dark! It really could have done with some extra lighting in there, but that aside, the bed was comfortable, we got clean towels every day and the shower was particularly good! It was quiet at night, and felt very private. They also have a resident cat called Bink, who took the opportunity to bound into our room and have a look around (probably trying to sniff out our stroopwaffels!) as we were leaving one day, so if you are allergic cats... maybe not the best choice of hotel.

The location is good - there is normally a tram stop right outside the hotel, but because of roadworks elsewhere in the city, there is currently a temporary diversion, so we had to walk 3 minutes down the road to catch the tram. You could easily walk the distance to the city centre anyway - it took about 20/25 minutes (at quite a slow pace) to walk to the Red Light District. The hotel is also very close to the Artis zoo, a botanical garden, and an outdoor play area, so great if you have children with you.

There is free wifi in this hotel, which I tried to access from the room on my mobile phone, but it was so slow, I gave up.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and there was always someone around when we needed them. The door was only locked at night on one occasion - we just rang the bell and someone was there straight away.

There was a whole stand of discount vouchers and leaflets, for Amsterdam's main attractions, in the hallway, so if you haven't already booked anything, it could give you some ideas.

The breakfast was 10 euros, which we didn't sample, so I cannot comment on that, but there were some cheaper and delicious options nearby, such as "Bagels and Beans".

Overall, we had a lovely comfortable stay, and I would stay here again for a similar trip. If I had more money, I would go for one of the luxury rooms, as the basic one was not well lit, but this had minimal impact on our overall experience.

Room Tip: The basic rooms aren't shown in the pictures! If you don't mind a small room, go for a basic...

to be honest, we were only at the hotel to sleep but it looked like a nice place even otherwise. the rooms are good size ones and the guys at the reception are really helpful. if you've got a bit of money to spend, i'd recommend you stay here.

Vriendelijke mensen, dichtbij het centrum. Echt Amsterdams. Great breakfast. Safe. Friendly and homey atmosphere. Bink the cat is a nice treat too. Stayed there for four nights. Highly recommend this to anyone!

We visited Amsterdam just before the Queen's day, that why the prices everywhere including this hotel climbed up. This hotel has a good atmosphere and located in a quiet but central region.
Staff was very friendly and helpful which is not always a case in the Netherlands. We have not tried their breakfast so I do not know about it. There is a big Albert Heijn supermarket not far from the hotel. We also liked small nice park just at the corner.
Our room was very big, there was a lot of light although it was at the ground floor. It smelled odd in the corridor at the ground floor but in the room it was ok.
The only minus was that they have very noisy pump. If you use water (toilet, shower etc) it makes a loud sound like someone is firing a machine gun.
