We recently had the pleasure of a 9-night stay at the Linden Hotel. One of the strengths of this hotel is the wonderful staff. During our stay we found every staff member to be extremely kind, helpful, friendly, informative and pleasant. The housekeeping team also did a great job, as everything in our room would always be clean and fresh after we'd return from a day's touring of Amsterdam.

The Linden is a small, cozy, comfortable hotel in a fantastic location in the Jordaan. It's out of the centre but pleasantly so - some may see this location as a disadvantage but we certainly did not; it was great to get away from the hustle, bustle, bikes & trams of central Amsterdam. The hotel is in a restful location beside a canal, and the general neighbourhood is very quiet at night.

Breakfast was good and quite varied. There were juices, pastries & breads, fruit salad, cereals, hard-boiled eggs, meat and cheese slices, coffee/tea. If you choose not to have breakfast at the hotel, there are plenty of breakfast cafes in the area. The hotel has an elevator, which is slightly unusual for small hotels in this city. The elevator is extremely small so if you are claustrophobic you have been warned!

Due to the location of the surrounding streets and canal, the hotel is "V" shaped. We were in a good-sized "Superior Double" room in the front of the "V" and it was incredibly quiet except for the occasional slamming door from other rooms. Doors to the rooms appear to be mounted on a very strong hydraulic closure system which yanks the door closed strongly and quickly, and the slamming sound reverberates through the entire hotel at times. Aside from these occasional slamming doors, there was almost no sound from any of the adjoining rooms. The bathroom was fantastic - it was a huge shower stall with modern fixtures and plumbing. Incredibly hot water and plenty of water pressure. The mattress on the bed was too firm, though, and slightly uncomfortable but there was a cozy duvet provided.

The free Wi-Fi was exceptionally fast. There was no telephone in the room, instead there was a note in the room instructing guests to use the WhatsApp Messenger application on their smartphone if they needed to call hotel reception. Our room's closet contained a safe for storing valuables, which came in handy. Head's up to North Americans: if you visit in the hot season, there is no air conditioning in this hotel. We were given a gift bag on checkout, so that was a nice finishing touch.

All in all, it was a great stay at the Linden. Highly recommended!

We stayed here the weekend just gone, it is a very small but nice hotel. I thought the room was perfect size plus we didn't spend much time there anyway as we were out seeing the city! I have to say I do think it was a little pricey and I was charged £40 more than when I originally booked on booking.com so be careful on that. I absolutely love the decor around the hotel. Overall it was lovely at the reception staff were always kind and very helpful.

This hotel is nice and welcoming. In the entrance hall, you can drink some lemon and mint infused water and eat some candy free of charge. The hotel is very clean, the bathrooms are modern. All the rooms are small, but pretty functional and distasteful. Depending on the room you have, one's experience may vary : some bathrooms aren't very smartly designed, with water getting all over he bathroom floor when you shower, but it really depends on the room. We booked 2 rooms and one was really nice and we encountered no problems ; however, in the second one, there was no warm water one night through the next morning, and the shower wasn't well designed.
All in all, it's a nice hotel which will do the job and is in a nice location, even if it is a little expensive. I'd say it's worth your money if you are assigned a good room, and not if you're unlucky and get a "bad" room. The staff is super friendly and there is no shortage of cute and quirky little messages and quotes all over the hotel.

The staff was excellent! Very friendly and helpful. They accommodated an early check in and were helpful in finding a canal cruise for us. We loved the quieter neighborhood the hotel is in. A nice respite from the city center. In a cleaner area of the city that has quaint restaurants, bars, canals, streets to enjoy --worth the 20-25 min walk to the city center. Very close to the Anne Frank House.

The "not ideals" were a trade off for a historic property in a city -- some traffic noise, steep stairs to room (there was an elevator, if needed), no AC, smaller room/bathroom space. It was all fine, though --perfect for our family's stay.
